I'll check out that app. The nice thing about the Kindle app is that it stays synced with my Kindle, so I can take up reading on one where I left off with the other. Of course, that takes extra bandwidth.

Well, like a lot of us, I'm starting out a bit slow. 3 books completed, which puts me on pace for 100 book in the year, but my base goal is 120, with a stretch of 160, so definitely behind. OTOH, life has been more than a bit busy this year, so I'm not too concerned.

Definitely picked up the pace this weekend. Who needs sleep?

3 books completed and managed to read a few pages of The Untouchable which is going to slow me down a bit. Hopefully get to six books by the end of the month.

I started out pretty good, knocked one book off my TBR list and one off my ReRead list. Then I started The Golden Compass and it all fell apart. It's taken me 4 days to read a fifth of the book and my fanfiction reading has skyrocketed, roughly 200k words in those same 4 days, because I'm avoiding reading The Golden Compass. Meh. Maybe I'll watch the movie first and then try finishing the book.

In the meantime I've started my next ReRead and another book of my TBR. I also need to put some of my TBR's on the computer at work because that's where I do a good chunk of my fanfiction reading. This way I'll hopefully read the TBRs instead of fanfiction.

Try the Audible version of the book. Having now read both, I found the Audible version more compelling. This reads like a story meant to be told, not written.

I don't typically do audiobooks unless I've got a long car ride, a 10 minute daily commute just doesn't cut it , but I'm determined to finish this book so I may have to go that route. Thanks for the suggestion.

Started off slowly this year, as I had a lot of work. But I have completed my first book, and also read several short stories. It is incredibly hot right now, and I am between work assignments, so my plan for the rest of the week is to lie on the couch in front of the fan, and read.

I finished a couple of books the first week of the year, but hit a two-fold wall for book #3.

The first was the book itself - Yukio Mishima's Confessions of a Mask. It's a very short work, only 148 pages, but it is very heavy and hard work to get through.

The second was being given another class to teach with less than a week to prepare for it.

I've abandoned my first book of the year, about a quarter of the way in. It doesn't add to my totals, but it's one off the TBR!

Wow! An issue where my standards are stricter than yours! At last!

I have to finish it to count it. It means I won't abandon a book on the home stretch, but I'm committed by that point anyway. I don't think I ever keep on reading past enjoyment or expectation thereto just for the sake of pages already read. Life's short and reading's for love.

It was -15 C here and snowing today, so I wanted to sit on top of the heating vent and read - Currently reading Primo Levi's Survival In Auschwitz (If This Is A Man), which is wonderful.
