Hmmm. An interesting anomaly in pricing at Amazon. The price for the Kindle version of Baen books is exactly the same in Canadian dollars as it is in US dollars. Giving Canadians a 30% discount off the top, given the state of the Canadian dollar.

Good thing I still have a different Canadian account I can use for Kindle books.

I agree HN. I have enjoyed that a lot in the series. Granted I am only on #6 but it has been interesting. I do wonder if the author donated anything to help after Katrina.

Finished Patton's Shaceship by John Barnes and then Prescription: Murder! Volume 2: Authentic Cases from the Files of Alan Hynd.

I liked Patton's, but I avoided reading it for the longest time because I didn't like the title; nor the cover, frankly.

Finished books 3. Bound for Murder, 5. Frill Kill, & 6. Death Swatch. I know read out of order but these are in digital and book 4 Motif for Murder in the series is not digital. I am waiting on my local library to borrow a print copy from a different library in my state. Who knows how long the wait will be. So I went ahead to read the rest.

I have really been enjoying this series. As stated earlier I like how the author as put in about Hurricane Katrina. I feel like the author was mean/abusive towards one character in the story. The character is not a 'size 8' like the other characters and the author has this character in flowery house dresses. Even though this character is suppose to have money. Seems like with money this character would be dressed a whole lot nicer. Granted it may be because the character is a very mean witch with a big B. The one drawback for me as a reader is that the author makes reference to this characters weight. I personally felt this was wrong. I really loved the pirate treasure search in book 6.

I will be skipping over book 8 Fiber and Brimstone because it is only available as print. Also waiting on my library to get this in print. Maybe this book and book 4 will arrive at the same time.

I got so lost a while back that it's daunting to try to get back in to these books. One too many books by Virginia DeMarce and I lost interest. (Actually, ONE book by her was too many, but I think I read three that she was part or all of.) But the London Tower folks would be fun to catch up with.
I agree - I'm going to skip any future Virginia DeMarce books in the series, as her style makes the plot just too hard for me to follow. But the other main co-authors seem to be OK.

Ha! Apparently if you fuss hard enough, you get it done!

First book of 2016 finally completed!

Stations of the Tide was a long ride on an odd, and bumpy road, but you couldn't help be captured by the scenery as you went by.

Next up: Leviathan Wakes which has been paired, in my copy, with The Dragon's Path, both of which are part of my challenge. So, yay, two for the price of one!

Are you aware of the new SyFy series, The Expanse? It's based on The Expanse Trilogy: Leviathan Wakes, Caliban's War and Abaddon's Gate.

I have to agree. I would like to read The Dreeson Incident, but because Virginia DeMarce is the co author I refuse to do so. At least she hasn't written another Ring of Fire book since 2009.

I liked the start of this so much, I went and bought the others in the series that were going for under £2 each. I hope I still like it at the end!
Well I hope you enjoy the series. I know @CRussel didn't like #3 much, but I found it pretty much as good as the preceding two, despite (or because of?) the rather "interesting" ending. In fact I'm looking forward to #4 A Trail Through Time very much, intrigued to see where Ms Taylor takes the story.

Well, I'm nearly at the end of book #1, and I'm rather surprised as the organisational and financial setup which seems far more implausible than any of the time travel. But I'm looking forward to the next books, in due course.

The first 5 episodes of Expanse are available at SyFy.com. Don't know if there are geographic restrictions or not.
