![]() freekobo, for a poll to be inclusive it needs to have an option that covers those who don't choose to (in this case) download the update because they don't care either way. ![]() Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 01-07-2016 at 06:13 PM. Reason: add 'because they don't care either way' |

Pretty sure that one still has the bug that makes it impossible to disable the "pinch to zoom" font-size adjustment feature -- a feature I hate because it's too easy to accidentally adjust font size when trying to do the two-finger swipe to adjust the brightness. The bug was eventually fixed, but then the erratic and laggy front-light adjustment bug was introduced and has yet to be fixed, so it's like one step forward and one step back.

I guess, but if one doesn't download the update why would one want to vote on the question if you like it or not? anyways, I cant figure out how to add options to it. stop asking me where such and such an option on the poll is. ![]() ![]() Last edited by freekobo; 01-07-2016 at 07:38 PM. |

in this case it worked fine without any issues, i also installed Mark 4 Hardware 3.16.0 on my Mini and my Touch, and they both work fine too, i am happy with 3.16.0 on all three of my devices. best wishes koboy ![]() Last edited by koboy; 01-08-2016 at 10:34 AM. |

The package also contains a directory called "upgrade". This contains the kernel and uboot images. These are hardware specific. Putting the wrong version of this on your device can be dangerous. The update mechanism in recent firmware should only install the correct files, but, older firmware didn't check and using the wrong package could brick the device. If you do a factory reset and manually upgrade rather than letting the device do it, then be very careful. The factory reset version of the firmware is the most likely one to not handle this properly. All the files in the upgrade package should be used together. While using just the "KoboRoot.tgz" is safe, there are sometimes changes that need changes in the kernel. There have been a couple of strange problems reported that were tracked down to the kernel not being updated properly. |

Well I was in the middle of reading while in bed, and my H2O decided to upgrade.
First time in a long time that the device upgraded itself rather than me upgrading it. Thankfully Geoff already has the patches out, so a quick download of the needed files, some tweaking based on changes I'd set for the last firmware and I'm off to the races. Well once I find my spot again, which may have been my fault for opening the book before applying patches but ah well, it's not far off. Not seeing any major changes, though full screen reading with kepubs may no longer suffer from issues when line spacing is too small. I've tweaked the line 15 settings based on my last patching, not sure if I had zero issues regardless of the settings or if it was just good with what I was using. So right now I can't emphasize enough that it's questionable if this change is there with an unpatched version or with a patched version with the line 15 values provided as default. I can't think of what would have changed that allowed this since fullscreen reading is still an unofficial feature. Maybe tweaks to how kepubs are handled. |

After a little testing it seems that the line spacing issue with text cut off at certain small numbers still exists

It looks like it solved one of my pet bug where the backlight would not turn off when putting the Kobo to sleep (even after hours and hours).
I've not been able to reproduce it since the upgrade so it "might" be fixed. |

use mark 6 for the Glo HD and copy the KoboRoot.tgz on it's own into the .kobo folder and then eject the Aura, it will extract the files and restart job done, you will then have 3.16.0, and then ignore all the pointless updates so far there after in my own humble opinion of course. best wishes koboy ![]() Last edited by koboy; 01-09-2016 at 12:54 PM. |
