Question on Pocket on Kobo
I'm considering getting a Kobo Glo HD, based on the Pocket integration.
One thing I haven't been able to pick out in the reviews; what does Pocket on Kobo do with links. On my android devices, I can long click on a link and then add it to Pocket. This allows me to follow links (over time) but never need to be connected while doing so. Also, does the syncing happen automatically when WiFi is available, or do you have to manually select sync. Many thanks! Rick |

ok i strangley use pocket on the kobo more then actually reading books
if there are links within an article if you click it, it will allow you to save the article to pocket when you open up pocket on the kobo, it will sync automatically. thats the way its set on mine, as long as you have a wifi connection, i think you can set it so it syncs without opening it too... but generally each evening i open pocket and it auotmatcially downloads all the articles ive sent to the pocket i.e. from my ios device or computer |

When you click on a link, either in an epub or in a pocket article (not in a pdf), it gives you the choice of opening it in a browser or sending it to pocket. On android, you have to long press to get this choice, kobo gives you the choice every time. If wifi is up at the time, it downloads it immediately in the background. If it isn't up, it offers you the choice of bringing up wifi to download it or not; if you choose not to, it queues it for next time you have wifi.
It will automatically download articles from pocket in any of the following circumstances: 1) when you first choose a link and wifi is available 2) when you go into the pocket article list and wifi is available (maybe only if it hasn't recently) 3) when you go into the pocket article list and manually select refresh (assuming it is able to establish wifi) 4) any time your kobo does a full sync (either scheduled or manual sync from the home screen) |

Thanks!
Thanks to both of you; it sounds like Kobo and Pocket really got this right.
Now I just need to find out what changed with my Nook books where I can't deDRM them so I can transfer them to the Kobo. One forum mentioned that they'd changed something in their DRM. I'll either figure it out or finish reading the books on my old Nook. Thanks again, Rick |

You can check this thread. It might give you some hints on Nook DRM if you can wade through it all.

Thanks Robko - I tried again and was able to get all of my books into Calibre and into my Kobo.
For anyone else who finds this thread looking for information on Pocket on Kobo, the integration is great - I'll give it 4.5 stars. First, every time I grab my Kobo, it has plenty of articles synced. I'm not sure how many, but 50 is believable. I switched it so it won't show any articles that it hasn't downloaded and oldest articles are first (personal preference on #2). When you click on a link, it offers the opportunity to visit the link on the internal web browser or add to Pocket. The reason that I'm docking a star is that it appears to need a connection to add additional articles to Pocket. When I select add to Pocket while not connected, I get a pop-up listing nearby WiFI networks. That's why I'm only giving it 4.5 stars. If you get to the bottom of an article, you get a pop-up offering archive/favorite/delete. Those selections do not need a WiFi connection. So, I'm happy with my purchase. Regards, Rick |

I do find myself adding more articles to Pocket these days and then reading on the Kobo when I'm out.
One thing I'd love to see is an option to ignore the tap on a link to add it to Pocket; quite often as I turn the page I hit a link by mistake. |

It is just that it offers the opportunity to add the article *immediately*. If you just close the dialog without accepting the offer to connect, it queues it up and will add/download later. |
