I can't see myself going out of my way to use the price matching. I'm a lot less interested in a store credit than I would be in a refund of the difference to my credit card.

Most of my purchases at Kobo are "Indies" that I buy with coupon codes during their (so far) monthly contests. I didn't see any mention of coupon codes in their price match policy.

Not sure if this is something I would use either. I apply promo codes whenever possible and this usually brings the price down to below Amazon's or Google's.

I suppose if I notice a price drop the next day I might try it.

Each of the books that I purchased and used the price match on, also had promo codes from the last contest applied to them.

I just noticed Kobo no longer accepts AMEX outside the US and Canada.

I'm not sure AU has ever had Amex.

Costco is also dropping Amex. I don't know that it's all that unusual to happen. Credit card things are always changing and there's a lot of fees with each one. Maybe they'll add Square.

Does anyone know of any current codes that definitely work in the Australian store?
Theres a book there I want to buy (it only available in the Aussie store) but I cant get any codes from the front page to work (its a new account so no codes have been used before).
Since Kobo have removed the ability to refine a search by 'coupon eligible', I am not sure if the book is eligible or not or if the codes have just expired.

Chapter One if you scroll down the left hand side of the page going towards the bottom you'll find the items eligible for promo button.

(I'll. Be online in approx half hour if you want to PM your book info )

Thanks Lynx-Lynx, you are correct, it is there. On my screen its quite a long way past all the other options so I just didnt see it earlier.
Sadly my book is not coupon eligible so it will have to wait for now.

Thanks! Was the rebate based on the pre-coupon price or after the coupon was applied?

It was based on the price before the rebate(promo code) but not sure how it was calculated. Here is an example from December 23 and 24, I think the Amazon US price is the same today as then(95% sure).

Cinderella and the Ghost by Marina Myles
Kindle price $3.03
Kobo price $3.59(VIP) -30% = $2.51
Store Credit after Price matching $.92

$3.59 - $3.03 = $0.56
10% of $3.59 = $0.36
total = $0.92

Thank you, back when I first did the price match, I could not get the calculation correct. I don't remember every using the VIP pricing, I think I was using the original pricing. Either that or my brain went on vacation. So simple, how could I not thought of that.

I'm surprised that the 10% was on the original purchase price, and not on the difference. I think that is the more common price-match offering.
