The slow boot time of the h2o does bother me.
By the time it booted, and loaded an article, I'm already doing other stuff on my pc, and by the time I'm back at the device for being such a slouch, it already entered sleep more, or is turned off, and needs to be started again.
I'm usingbthe deviceat work, and noticed several times, that all I really do, is boot the device. By the time I finally get to it, I have to boot it again,
So I'm really bothered by the slow boot time!

You should disable the poweroff setting of the H2O. The device works fine running in standby. Only turn it off if you know you won't be using it at all for a week or longer...

Boot speed is not that slow for me, it only takes a few seconds. Wakeup from standby is instant. So even if booting took considerably longer it wouldn't be a problem for me since I only ever use the standby feature.

Yes, use sleep with no poweroff. Even in that mode, it will last weeks before the battery runs out if the autosync is turned off. And getting back to reading will only take an instant.

Of course, I still seem to open the cover as I'm doing something else and then forget about the reader until out of the corner of my eye, I see the screen flash as it goes to sleep. And yes, I'll wake it while trying to remember what I was going to do and get distracted again and ...

The Sony Reader T series shut off it if wasn't used for 2 days. That seems reasonable.

You would use more power if the H2O turned off after 3 hours of not being used.

I'd like an option for about three days. The way my wife uses here Glo means she uses it intensely for a few days and then might not touch it for a month. But there is no way to predict when. A trigger for the use can be something like a doctors appointment, so finding it out of battery is very inconvenient.

She still reads the rest of the time, but she still prefers paper books. And considering how many we have around the house that she has bought and not read, I'm glad she's making inroads into those stacks.

From memory, you can get that. If you edit the config file on the device, I think you can set the power off to anything up to 255 minutes.

Hey, I just reported what the stop watch told me. While I know the N905 Touch does not have the removable internal uSD card, I do not know what type of device it does use for it's mass storage. Perhaps you would care to explain why you consider that set of reproducible results to be bull?

I'm rather surprised that you have your Kobo set to power off. My preference is to sleep after 15 minutes and never to power off. The change in battery lifetime between sleep and power off is not great enough for me to worry about given my reading and book adding habits. Sleep mode is pretty fast in resuming on the book you were reading compared to the time it takes to boot up to the home screen and re-select your current read from power off. YMMV, of course.

As for the slow boot time? I have memories of booting a Data General Nova minicomputer by toggling in a boot loader, reading the boot tape (special format using 4 bits per line on a punched tape) and then loading the OS from another punched tape -- all this using a TTY 33's tape reader. Makes my H2O seem like Speedy Gonzales on meth.

I would like the shut off to be configurable from 2-days to 5-days in one day increments. The time we have now is way too short.
