Still raining .... my lawn is a sponge under standing pools of water ... driveway and sidewalks are slick mud hazards ... I'm expecting to see squirrels on boogie boards ...

Planning to refill the bird feeder after lunch [if there's a break in the rain] - if I don't post again about it, please send in the Coast Guard .... with a raft ...

Same here, a few hours south. Lots of flooding, TONS of standing water and a frightening number of road closures and washouts.

Hey, rain is better than the nasty white stuff, says someone to the north. The good times ended with s**w on Tuesday. How I hate s**w! Why I fetched up in New England is beyond me.

Our rain ended last night, but it was damp, breezy and heavily overcast all day.

Hot, hot and more hot here. At least it was tolerable outside yesterday, so I got to go see the sunset. Now to closet myself indoors for most of the next three months.

Rain finally stopped for the first day of 2016. This morning, woke up to freezing temperatures for the first time in weeks. Full sun and cold.

There's a big yellow light in the sky making everything on the ground cast a shadow. I was beginning to think we'd never see it again. My property is still marshland, though. If the rain holds off, it should be dry by mid-February.

It was cold (although seasonable for early January -- I think I may have been spoiled) today, with temperatures never getting much above freezing, and there was a steady, moderate wind. But we did have sun through broken cloud cover. It was actually pretty pleasant in the sun.

It was 22F when I left the house at 5:45 this morning. High is supposed to hover around the mid 40s, though if the sun doesn't come out, I bet it won't get that warm. Very blustery with windchills.

I definitely got some windburn yesterday evening on my jog.

25 F here this morning - very blustery - temps to top out in the 30's F.

I went out to start the car to warm up, and zipped my parka hood over my lower face. When I came back into the house, I left the hood zipped. Stella cat took one look at me and ran to hide! Intruder alert! She wouldn't even come out for her morning snack!

Our low last night was 6 degrees.

Today's weather was almost identical to yesterday's, except there was no wind. Amazing how much more comfortable that made it.
