I'm curious about the exact wording of their statement to you on this. Did you happen to keep the email? |

Do you still have access on your Kindle, and can you download books? If the exact wording in the email said you would have access to content on your Kindle, that doesn't include the Kindle app on your Ipad unfortunately.

So just to be clear, Amazon never actully specified that your device would be affected?
Because while it is entirely comprehensible that you might not be able to continue using a closed account in tandem with your device (that is a matter of pure deduction), your original wording made it sound as though Amazon said the connected device would be rendered forever useless to anyone. i.e. remotely bricked. Which I felt surely could not be the case. |

But did you not get a warning email? Because up til now, every report I've heard indicated that Amazon first sends warning emails to say that you are returning an unusual number of things, and it's making them uncomfortable. |

"We are tracking your returns and would like to know if there is anything we can do to help eliminate?" I explained how I order for multiple inviduals- (including my boss at the time) and that it wasn't just me buying and returning. The account just happened to be in my name. I also pointed out how many items we purchased vs the returns. That emailed back- they reviewed the account- agreed- said they understood...and that was that. Oh well. Like I said- I'm not angry. And perhaps my case is not the norm. I let others sign in and use my account because I had prime- I was trying to be nice- it bit me on the butt. I suppose there are work around so to get access to my digital content- but I moved on. I am curious to see - if Amazon is going to continue this practice of dismissing customers. I worked retail for several years- I can't imagine a store banning customers for returning defective merchandise. |

If the Kindle is still registered to the original account, can you not connect to that account via the Kindle? Beyond that, the Kindle is not useless. You can get ebooks from other sources and convert them to a format the Kindle can read. |

I toolk my Fire Phone Off my account yesterday Also did this to my K3. With in a few Hours ALL Content was removed from the Phone. On the K3 All I lost was my Collections...ebooks were still there. So wonder IF its Only the e-ink readers that still work IF the account close. Of course once they crash that is it... [Not talking about side loading.] O course I no clue whats going to happen to the Movies & Audibles I also buy. After my string of Bad purchese this year I not going to be surprised to get a notice my self

I liberate all my books, and do so immediately I purchase them. After what I've been through with Amazon I feel I have every right. Audible audiobooks I downloaded into iTunes and anyway I don't buy on my Amazon audible account anymore unless I get a Whispersync offer for 99p.

Years ago, long before the Kindle and the Nook, Barnes and Noble sold ebooks along with readers that worked in Windows. Or maybe it worked in Dos. I don't really remember. This began shortly after Microsoft and it's ereader and the .lit books, or maybe shortly before, I'm not sure. They sold those books for three years as I recall. I bought a few and I read them but I do re-read books and I hung on to them. Then they decided to get out of the ebook business and we were all notified that we had 30 days to download our books and then they'd be gone. The reader, needed to read them, was already gone. I wasn't worried. I had mine downloaded and my reader installed and I just never thought it through. When I replaced my PC with a newer one my books were, of course, gone. I can't feel too bad about this. I had read them and I didn't have that many. Maybe a dozen or two. I don't remember now. I didn't feel real good about it either and I learned my lesson. When I sign up with any online book seller I have to agree with their terms of service but they don't have to agree to my terms of service. They enforce their terms to the best of their ability and I do the same with my terms. Amazon and every other book seller says we're not really buying the book, we're buying the right to read it. That, to me, is a distinction without a difference and not one I can respect. I will buy and pay for the books I read but I will get those books. Barry |

So even IF I decided to Buy a number of Fires to Store & Watch my Movies I have purchased from Amazon & Audibles they too wouldn't be on the Fires once Amazon Closed the account. So The ONLY thing Amazon Allowing folks to keep ... for a while till all devices crash are the eBooks. To heck with any thing else the customer buys. I have a Lot of money tied up in Audibles, Movies & eBooks. This is what I am hoping Amazon Give Answers to IF they ever give Paul a straight answer that is. Not like its going to hurt Amazon to let customers keep these items we purchased. After all in 2015 he profit was $29.5 Billion this year off us. |
