Special Offers/Screensaver

How much does it cost to unsubscribe from special offers? I don't like some of the books which appear on my screensaver so I would like to get rid of this or at least control the kind of special offers that appear.

$20 to remove special offers. Or you could do like I do. If I don't like the book it is showing, I just push the power button and it changes when I push the button again.

$20 will remove it from the device. However if you buy another Kindle in the future, you have to pay it again if you get the special offers Kindle again. It does not follow your account.

I have purchased several Kindles over the years and buy out the offers later when I can spare the extra $20.

I contacted Amazon when I got my Voyage, and asked them if they'd swap the special offers off of my Voyage and move them to my PW, which was not special offers. They kindly just removed the special offers from my Voyage, no charge. So, it's worth contacting them and seeing if they'll just take it off.

They removed mine for free too. I'm in Canada and explained i couldn't take advantage of the offers anyway (bought the Voyage while in the US). They were nice about it.

They did exactly the same thing for me as well when I received my Voyage.

If you never turn on the wifi, the special offers will disappear. Instead, you will have an attractive screen featuring a girl with a telescope, a crescent moon, and the words "Find your next great read."

You still lose a line at the bottom of the library screen to the advertising space, though, and if you use a sleep cover you still have to swipe to dismiss the screensaver when you open the cover.

Yes, true, but I thought the poster indicated a dislike for what he was seeing as far as ad content. So my way is one way to avoid seeing that type of content.
