I finally finished #3 in the Dresden Files, Grave Peril. This one was a pure slog, with a rating of 2-3 only. I've been promised that the next one is better, and I'm going to give it a try, but not right away. First, I have a library book, Sabre-Tooth, the second Modesty Blaise book by Peter O'Donnell. I no longer enjoy reading DT books, but these aren't available any other way, so needs must.

I finished The Colony of Unrequited Dreams by Wayne Johnston. A great read. My read of the year.

Finished Sabre-Tooth. A quick and fun read. I really wish these were available in eBook format.

Next up, the Book Club selection, Otto Penzler's Christmas mystery collection.

Finished Winning Colors by Elizabeth Moon. Trying to read Tales from Bow Street, a non-fic about the beginnings of the English police force. The writing is not award-winning, but tolerable; however, the ebook appears to be a scan/OCR with no proofing: plenty of h/b substitutions and the like, and it's annoying enough that I might not finish it.

Wow, that goes back to February 2009 just when the 2nd generation Kindles (my first ereader) were coming out. I still have one of those pink Kindles. I'm currently reading the ninth book in Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker trilogy on it.

Recently finished two books:

"The Keys of Egypt", by Lesley and Roy Adkins. A paper book which doesn't seem to be available as an eBook. An excellent biography of Jean-François Champollion and the story of the decipherment of Egyptian hieroglyphs. A fascinating read for anyone interested in the subject.

"For King and Country", by Robert Asprin and Linda Evans. Bought from Baen in 2002. An historical novel loosely disguised as time-travel SF. An SAS officer goes back to 6th century Britain in pursuit of an Irish terrorist who is determined to change history, and finds himself aiding the historical figure whom later history would call "King Arthur", a British chieftain trying to hold together the remains of his people's Roman civilisation and stave off the inevitable decline into barbarism about a century after Rome's withdrawal from the British Isles. A slow start, but really picked up about halfway through and became a pretty good book.

Just finished two books that I highly recommend:

"The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax" -- first in the series by Dorothy Gilman
Sixty-something woman who decides she wants to be a spy, and becomes one! There are about a dozen left in the series and I will be working my way through them.

"A Death In Sweden" by Kevin Wignall. (spies/intrigue). Got this one free with my Amazon Prime account (get a choice of a free book from a selection of about 6 once a month). For an indie (I'm assuming) writer, I found it hard to put down and a very satisfying read. I'll look for more by him.

-----------
On the flip side, I finally got Michael Connelly's new book from the library (The Crossing) and didn't like it at all. Matter of fact, I didn't even finish it and returned it a few days later. IMO it was boring and poorly written. Such a disappointment.
