From the other thread your posting in, you claim *.txt files are alright. Also that you have more than just the default reader installed. If this is about two different devices - say so. |

the txt files are transferred to my kindle from my pc, mostly are free classic novels i found on the web, not through amazon service.
at first, kindle can open files, but after a couple times, the error described above started to occur when i try to open them. it almost seems that kindle doesn't like any document not downloaded/purchased from amazon website. |

Not possible. = = = = = Is the indexer running or has it completed indexing whatever it is going to index (it doesn't index all document formats)? |

i installed librerator on kindle to compliment support of .txt files because of this, in librerator, txt files can be opened, although for large size (>1MB?), format sometimes is skewed and documents are slow to respond. |

and the K4nt was hacked and had the following added: kindle font hack Kual librerator In kindle reader, txt file initially can be opened without issue, then started to showing errors mentioned above after a few opennings, font was set to 'droid sans fallback' using 'font hack'. in librerator, txt file can be opened without issue, but large size txt file's format is skewed, by that i mean it doesn't use whole screen only display a few lines at top, bold font text here and there, as well as long lags when turning page up/down. font was set to 'droid sans fallback' as well. |

Most likely the same problem as in the other thread you are using for this question.
Install Chinese-Windows on the Kindle or get the document re-coded into something non-Microsoft. Specifically, you want a program that reads the right-most column values and replaces (writes) the values in the center column of this table: http://www.fileformat.info/info/charset/GB2312/list.htm And then you stand a chance of reading the document as something other than ? ? ? ? ? If you write the tool in Lua, and it isn't already in Liberartor (or KOReader), then share it with the KOReader project. = = = = = Oh, and the *.chm files are Microsoft proprietary, compiled HTML (such as their 'help' files). Again, you'll have to find a Microsoft tool that can re-code those for you. = = = = = You could also use KUBRICK to install an early(ier) version of the K4 firmware, and then update using Amazon packages to a newer version, one that still supports your text documents.
