After updating I have numbers in front of my books
Hi there. I am not new to calibre but I am just using the basic stuff because I find it quite difficult.
Anyway I updated and now I have a vertical column in front of my books with numbers. I cannot delete it with the book details thingy. I had endured the numbers but then I noticed that when i wanted to count my pages with the plug in which I use quite a lot I could not do so anymore. It says you must specify column first and I do not understand the screen that opens up. Why does an update change how i have set my beloved calibre. grrr Anyway I tried searching but too many other results. Thanks for any help. @CrazyDutchwoman - the row numbers have been there for as long as I've used calibre, the following is from a tips and tricks blog entry in 2011 ==>> http://blog.calibre-ebook.com/2011/1...-and-feel.html
Can you post your Count Pages configuration set sup and your custom columns list, viz: BR |

Hi . I checked and it seems I do not have a setup anymore.
![]() Now thinking about it. I think this could have happened because I got the update now message so I clicked thinking it would update automatically, but when I noticed they brought me to the website where I had to newly install calibre I cancelled and then when i came back all my books were gone. Does this mean I should have my old setup preferences somewhere? eta: I checked and I see to my delight (I think) in my calibre files in explorer the normal metadata one but i see also one metadate pre restore. It is only 127 kb though while the other one is 3963 kb Last edited by CrazyDutchwoman; 12-11-2015 at 08:38 AM. |

The update notification doesn't do the update. New features link will take you to the What's New page and the update button takes you to the relevant download page, but you must do the install.
Which Operating system are you using - Linux, OS/2 or Windows? And do you take regular backups? Hopefully someone else will jump in to help, as I am about to log off. BR |

I dont really get it, but afaik, the number in front of it doesnt resemblance any metadata of that books, it just for easy view i think, when i was want count page, the first thing, read the document of that plugin, then you will know how that plugin works. its just like that. Count Pages wants us to create Custum Column #pages, when you created it, make sure you input integers in setting of custom column, then configure the plugin to look after the custom column you created.
