In my case, the reset did not change the firmware version - so I only needed to reinstall my apps and reconfigure my settings. Even if this wasn't the case, you only need to install the latest fw, not the previous ones. |

I noticed that 4.4.4 preview release is available on ereader-store for the M96 (all models). Yippee I thought so I reflashed my M96C. The install went fine and the device even booted up afterwards which was a pleasant surprise. The UI looks quite nice but in true Onyx style they always f*ck up big style. This time there's no touch screen driver so you can't enter any text or touch anywhere on the screen ! So it's completely useless. So now back to 4.0 so that the device is only partially useless as usual. |

How long is the update to 4.4 supposed to take? My reader has been sitting here for a while without any report of successful or unsuccessful operations.

My 4.4 update took about 1 minute and a half. the system looks good and kind of more stable (with 4.0 the kindle app had some problem). there's just an issue with the led, on my device is always on while I'm reading, and that really hurting, I had to shield it |

Oh, I needed to run the app as administrator. Yeah, the KitKat interface is much cleaner and nicer-looking, but it's not ready for release yet (which I guess is ordinary for a pre-release). The LED won't cut off while the device is in use, there's no way to set a sleep mode wallpaper, and Onyx Neo Reader has quite large line spacing set and no way to alter it. Also, the font selector still shows regular, bold, and italic as separate fonts and is thus completely useless. Seriously, stop trying to upgrade your Android version until you have basic functionality nailed down. |

The update.zip for the T68 in the first post seems to be not available anymore?

Hubertphava, thanks for your reply... In my profile I mentioned indeed that I had a T68 Lynx, but since I had problems since the september-upgrade (Onyx launcher crashing on start-up), I changed it to Booxtor edition, and want to upgrade this one to the latest available version. |

I am getting this problem, and tried every solution found on the internet, including a hard reset, but that didn't work either. The 'solution' I eventually reverted to was installing Amazon app store and purchasing my apps from there (Moon+ reader pro, Calibre Companion...)

"Update date 2015-01-19". I installed it some months ago but got in troubles ( for example, random reboots and fast battery drain). If you want to try it, i have a copy of that zip but my suggestion it to flash the Onyx version i've linked above: more stability (till now, non random reboots) and more battery life. Also the touch seems to be more accurate than in the past. Cant't say anything about notes and other because i don't use this features. Re-rooting is easy with towelroot-1 ( not used other methods). The bad is that you have to wipe your t68, if you dont' come from a previous Onyx version. HTH HP

I ran towelroot-1, so I guess my device is rooted now? Do I understand correctly, that I just have to download the update-zip you linked to, to the root folder and then update my device via 'update from local storage'? (I understand my device will be wiped, but since I already changed from lynx to booxtor because of a broken OnyxLauncher, and tried resetting to factory settings to get Google Play Store working... one more wiping of my device is a small price to pay...)

@Booxtor I recently bought you a M96+, still waiting for arrival Are there plans for a newer firmware? I would love to have Android 4.4 plus a more optimized version of it. What about putting Koreader as default viewer? |

BTW has anyone had trouble rooting? I can't seem to get towelroot to work (I've tried versions 1 and 3). I also tried the root.zip package to no avail and the binary zip file.
