Reading them in the order they were written in (Cryptonomicon then the Baroque Cycle) possibly makes one thing slightly more surprising than reading them in story-chronological order. All four are now on my re-read soon list so i can see if I can spot why Cryptonomicon should be read first (might be hard now, I've got a bit too familiar with the stories...) |

Reading good book right now
Reading Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber. This is my first book by Debbie Macomber and I'm enjoying it.
Finished Everywhere that Mary Went by Lisa Scottoline last week, good book. Also still reading the Women's murder club series by James Patterson, up to the sixth book in the series. |

Finished The Sun, The Moon & The Stars, by Steven Brust. I liked it. Rather different from his other books. Less plot, more character sketch.
Probably won't be reading tonight, as I have a nasty headache. ![]() |

Finished Robin McKinley's Dragonhaven. Much better than I had expected it to be (I should have known better, being familiar with McKinley's work). The narrative is a little confusing, though. McKinley writes from the perspective of a teenager, and aptly portrays the chaos inside a teen's head. (In this case, a teen whose life has also been completely disrupted by... well, that would give away the story.

I just finished Naomi Novik's first book in her trilogy on dragons, the Temeraire series.
I enjoyed it, but it was a little dry in some places. I bought the trilogy, from Sony, when it was on sale - probably about one year ago, but I'm only now getting around to reading it. I won't be reading volume 2 anytime soon, as I want to read something a bit different for my next read. Don |

What I'm not reading.
Yes, I'm a liberal, and usually very open minded, but I refuse to read this book, even for the entertainment value:
Anne Coulter's Guilty:Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America (if the moderators think my statement is too political, please delete this post) (I should have posted this on the list of 10 books not to read) Last edited by Wetdogeared; 01-07-2009 at 02:20 PM. |
