Apologies to Murg, I didn't intend to hijack this thread, but apparently some damage has been already done To rectify this, I have now created a separate thread, where I invite you to share any ideas about further development an would no longer respond within this thread.

With regard to malware fearmongering - if I developed some malware, wouldn't I better off selling it to the criminals/NSA/GCHQ/... rather than infecting few random bookworms? The link to my other website, which is in a more mature state thanks to input from a photo enthusiasts community, was intended to give you more overview of what the Kobo firmware check website could eventually become. But if you feel that this is an unfair promotion (the other site is not-for-profit as well), let it be.

Do you mean the developement of your page or the developement of Kobo firmware ?

What I mented with the malware things is,that someone could be not such a nice person and develope something on pages,pointing to that pages from here.
I don't say you do,but there is really a wide variety of "Kobo" pages, not controlled by anyone where people "offer" patches, links and other things that are developed here,but are taken out of control of the developers by moving to private pages.
And they can have malware.. in fact I visited some that where just infect you only by visiting it..

Though I have 3.18.0., I am advised to side-load it and install it again to install Metazoa patches. On the first post of this thread, I read that the Kobo Glo needs Mark 4 from the 15th of September 2015. Fine.

I did not find the download link.

you can download the mark 4 hardware file here:

The patches use the zip file on your computer, so don't unzip it,after the patches are done they create an update file,that must be transferred to your reader, you don't have to install the whole update again to your reader.
It is the best to install files from this forum, not from others.
If you read post one of this topic and scroll down to the very end of that post,you would have found the links yourself

Have we got news about the next firmware? do you know if the bug of refresh on every page is fixed when we use fullscreen mode ?

PS : To add fullscreen option : open your .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf and add this :

[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true

NB : if [FeatureSettings] does not exist add it.

Kobo never announce anything ahead of time. I wouldn't expect an update this month, but there should be one before the end of the year. And it should have fixes for the refresh problems in the current release.

I like the latest developments on the Kindle Voyage e-ink page turns.
Do you think there could be such an update available for the Aura H2O?

I really prefer the smooth page turns over the flashy ones.

What's wrong with the H2O's page turns? I'm using 3.18.0 and the page turns using RMDSK do not flash except once every 12 pages. That's not flashy at all and I'm thinking of upping that to every 20 pages.

What I like about the voyager, is it refreshes the screen in a smooth-scrolling motion.
The Kobo refreshes like any other device out there, in an instant motion (flashing only on local letters or images, and full page flushing every x-amount of pages, like on the voyager).
