Yeah, and after all that heroic effort, now he can't even produce the demo units "because the manufacturer"...

I know what happened, the manufacturer made them with 5" screens. When they realized their mistake, they shipped the demos off to Kobo, who turn tried to rip off their customers during that last 5" sale.

Not so perfect reader, if it isn't 7+", and has exactly the same specs as the rest of them... Android is a horribly inefficient and power hungry operating system, way too advanced for ebook readers.
Some Linux kernels with support of upto 768MB of RAM, and no support for things like audio, cdrom, bluetooth, strange resolutions, etc... are probably a much better, and more efficient ground to start from.

Seriously? You compare Android as a complete OS to a kernel for linux? What do you think Android uses for a kernel that makes a real linux kernel so much superior?

We all know that Android is built on a Linux kernel, but the issue is that Android has a lot of overheads that are unnecessary for a dedicated reading device.

This proposed device is not of course a dedicated reader, but a generic tablet, so it's not going to have anything like as good a battery life as a dedicated reader.

Even for a dedicated e-reader, please propose how an independent can use linux and make reading software work that uses DRM? Maybe install the kindle for linux app, or kobo for linux app?
