I just bought mine from the Booxstor's site as well. All shipped and done properly. Biggest problem was that when it landed in Australia there was a massive weather storm and that delayed it a couple of days

I am sorry to go back to an earlier message here but if zeng happens to visit this thread again, I really wonder as to how close we are to see the release of an M97.
-- I have been "holding myself" for too long (since the days of M92 actually!) and still sticking to Dxg so as to get a device with better screen when finally spending money again on a 9.7'' (or larger) e-reader. |

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...1&postcount=88 Unfortunately last Zeng's post is from March 2014. Booxtor is also gone. 9.7inch Onyx has been recently updated by M96C in January 2015. Netronix has android based 13.3" flexible E Ink reader with capacitive touch and digitizer: http://youtu.be/b-SnpwAsIYc Unfortunately Netronix cannot sell this. Sony's DPT-S1 is 2 years old so it might be updated (not much hope) with android. Perhaps it might be hacked/jailbreaked miraculously. Time to wait? Pray? Kickstarter? |

Many thanks for the info fgdas. The Netronix one seems very interesting indeed.
There was a link here to the questionnaire on M97 a while ago, so I wanted to ask... https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&highlight=m97 I understand that the prospect of a soon-enough release seems dim. I am not sure actually, will possibly end up waiting again... |

Even if Onyx releases M97 next year it will take another year for them to release some decent firmware. They still can't get it right with the M96...

Do i need a cover for M96 ?
Dear Fellow, I have landed my self-buying a kindle paper white after several days of confusion to choose between Sony Digital paper and Onyx M96. The major reason behind this mistake was Onyx being an unknown brand (Quality not proven) here in Australia and its user base with the pricing factor of Sony DP. However, I ended selling my Kindle within a week as my mind switched to try Onyx considering it batter ability to read A4 PDF. Do you think I am going crazy here anyways, Now I am writing to find out from someone who is using M96 about how durable is it? I hate keeping nice pads into cases or covers wasting all the efforts of the designer who worked his assess of to make it that thin and lightweight. But, hey, you know I paid AU $440 and want to protect my investment for coming 3-4 years. Do you guys think it to be a delicate instrument? Is my expectation for it to last 3-4 years is overestimate? Should I need to use a case to safe guard it or it will last otherwise? Can you guys please advise me?

The screen is fragile, as with all glass-based ereaders. Definitely keep it in a cover which has a sturdy front flap. Don't drop it, don't place heavy objects on it, and don't stuff it in a packed bag...

Don't bend it !
For years now I have a M92 with a cover and pocket for my Asus netbook when I put it in my backpack without problem. The screen is a glass ... |

Need some backup procedures
Hi folks,
I've been using Boox (M96 & now the M96 Plus) for about 2 years now. The latest November firmware update is great; everything works faster, doesn't scan each time I check Libraries, Big pen is working again etc. However, my personal user experience on M96 is very "zen like" - each time I upgrade or something go wrong on the machine, I have to be prepared to lose everything (all my annotations, highlights, apps etc.) and start all over again.... Can anyone offer me a way to backup my stuff so that - at the very minimum - I can get back my annotations & bookmarks just the way I left it before I upgrade? As I said, the November update is great - on a functional level, I'm happy. |
