Must have been another model, then. The one I'm thinking of was released in the US for Christmas, but internationally a couple of months later. May have been the Kindle Touch.

The Kindle Touch was released in sometime in November and April 27 of the following year in the UK.

I don't know the release schedule for the UK, but traditionally, Kindles released in September or October in the US could only be ordered from the Netherlands in February of the next year. In Germany, they could be ordered in November of the year of release. (I got my KPW1 through Amazon Germany, by having it delivered at a friend's house.)

I haven't ordered a Kindle since then, so I don't know how it is now.

Pretty sure you're wrong about the K3 slash Kindle Keyboard. Both models came out in 2010.

Also, what you call the Kindle 5 is just the black version of the Kindle 4. It isn't a different model.

The white Kindle (current Kindle basic) is not on the list. When was that released in the UK? Yes I know it's a US list, but we've been talking release dates for the UK. So let's change the list to UK release dates.

Not according to Wikipedia. The Keyboard was released in 2010, but without special offers. Then a special offers version was released in 2011 for wifi and a few weeks later, for 3G.

Actually, now that I think of it, it is a different model. The original K4 had buttons and no touch screen. The K5 removed the buttons and added a touch screen.

It makes no sense to me that they discontinued the Touch and then turned the K4 into a Touch. Why not just discontinue the K4 and lower the price of the Touch? That's basically what it amounted to.
