Obviously. I never search using Bing, as soon as I'd activate Cortana, it'll search the web using it. I wonder if the EU will step in. It looks like Microsoft hasn't learned from the last time they bundled products and services with the operating system.

Or perhaps they learned to keep within the letter of the law while continuing to crush it's spirit. Evil does that.

Black means no dropshadows. It makes windows and menu's blend into one another, and that's not good. (At work, I detest Windows 8.1 for that; everything is flat and white.)

See that attachment. That's three (!!) different font-sizes in about 1/8th part of my screen; compare the left menu, the start menu icons, and the taskbar menu...

And what's with the grey Firefox (and, beneath the menu, Thunderbird) icons? Since this update, their background is suddenly grey.
Too much focus on design, and not enough on usability. I agree; no need to make changes just for the sake of making changes.

I don't think we can blame them for moving on from the PowerPC variants. That was a very significant architecture change. But if they do it while on the Intel processors, I'd concede your point.

Microsoft has always had a philosophy of being "backward compatible", meaning that newer platforms could run older software, while Apple has not. In the days of the original Macs vs. DOS/Win 3.11 that was one of MS' selling points at the expense of sometimes hobbling newer OSs like Win95/98.

MS has not always been able to conform to that philosophy, but they at least have always tried to, and the fault usually could be placed squarely on the third party developer; while Apple never did... buy a new mac, be prepared to buy new software.

^that. As long as I can have original physical media with the content in a simply accessible format I can convert it to anything which may come up in the next years. And no company takes it away when they go the way of the dodo.

If you can deDRM digital content or it comes without DRM, and it's in a lossless format, it's just as good.

For some stuff, there is no difference. It does not make a difference to me if I get a program or a game on a CD or as a download, as long as it does *NOT* require online activation.

For some programs or I make exceptions, if they're very cheap and I don't mind losing them at some point in time. In case of Windows, I make an exception because I just *need* that particular operating system at this point.

Mac has always had a certain aura of being cooler, better, and easier than Windows. Has tended to have less malware. Now Apple has become such a behemoth, that the aura only grows.

I use some Apple products. Like them. Don't find them to have the astonishing superiority that many claim for them.

Veering to the topic of Windows 10, I like it so far. I had a few weeks of errors that Cortana and the Start menu weren't working. Forced me to log out each time. I had to install new audio drivers to get Audacity working again. Otherwise, it's been painless. Nothing like the horrendous experience that was my brush with 8.1.

I don't know what Foobar does that makes it unique, but I have good luck with Asunder and EasyTag in Linux Mint. These fill my CD Ripping needs quite well.

Asunder review (more or less picked at random) ...
