That is true when transporting. I wager a guess that far more drops happen while you use the device (aka read with it, screen visible) than while transporting. When transporting the device needs protection from bumps and scratches rather than drops.

If you just want to protect the device from scratches, perhaps a "skin" rather than a case would do the job?

Ah, is that what they are called? I have a "body shield" on the back of my phone, that's what I was looking for.
Thanks! |

Yes, an Amazon search for "Kindle Voyage Skin" shows a wide selection available.

I have the Omoton case now, and while it does do a decent enough job of protecting the reader, I find it uncomfortable to hold. I can only hold it in my right hand semi-comfortably, and that's with having a finger wedged in between the cover and the back. As much as I love my KV, I do find it to be rather uncomfortable to hold, especially if I want to use the page turn buttons. It's so thin that there's not a natural way to grip it for sustained periods of time.
I'm wondering if anyone has a line on a vertical flip case. I'm finding few and far between for those for the Voyage. This one seems to be the best prospect so far. Although, that's not saying much since there are so few options out there (the Poetic case seems to be the next runner up. I'm not necessarily stuck on having a vertical flip case, but it seems like it'd be the best way to use either hand easily. I also like the strap on the first one I linked. Seems like there are plenty of options like that if you have a PW, but not so much for the KV. Strange. |

If you want a vertical flip case, have you considered the official Amazon case? I have it (the leather one) and like it a lot.

i have this one. and it is perfect. people don't even notice that it's a separate cover. but be careful when removing it (for whatever reason). to remove, you have to start at the bottom. if you try to pry the cover away from the top first, you risk separating the front side from the back side of the reader because the edge of the cover will catch onto the seam.

Mine arrived, and I absolutely love it. I wish shells like that were made for my Kobos.

Hm. I like those shells for phones, but for an e-reader I prefer a book cover. I often change busses or trains, and it's very convenient to just shut the reader, so I can either carry it (when doing a fast change, when trains or buses are waiting next to each other) or stuff it in the front part of the bag I mostly have with me. With a shell, a pouch is still needed to protect the screen when moving the e-reader about. (At least, IMHO.)

Although I own the leather case from Amazon for my Voyage, I much prefer the cases made by Noreve, a French company.
I still have the wonderful case for my older Kindle 2 (which is currently in Arkansas). Here's the one I ordered, from Noreve, for my Kindle Voyage: Amazon Kindle Voyage leather case Model : Tradition B - 15612TB20/f Finishing : Ambition Leather exterior colour : Ebène ( Sleek P C12 - Black ) http://www.noreve.com/en/kindle-voya...yage&results=1 Their cases are exquisite!
