That's probably caused by the embedded style. I never had such issues since I always disable embedded stuff.

I don't want to disable embedded styles because I read a lot of text books with quotes.

Coolreader doesn't start on PB 626 5.9.458

I must say, that I'm new with the pocketbook (PB touch lux3) but as far as I do understand installation simply means copying and merging the 'system' folder with the one existing on the PB. I have recently updated to version 5.9.458 and installed CR from cr3-v0.0.6-17-45.2-pro5.zip as described above. The 'install.sh' is located the root directory of the internal SD card.
Nothing happens...
Are there any further steps to perform??
Is it possible, that the 'extensions.cfg' is not required and read anymore??
THX in advance

You just need to copy the "system" folder.
As stated in the README file: install.sh is used by the OTA Update feature. It's useless otherwise.

extensions.cfg is still used by the system. If it wouldn't be used, everyone would probably complain @ the pocketbook developers

Maybe you've tried opening a book from the main screen. In that case the system will use the same app which opened that particular book before.

Try opening a new one from the library.

Edit:
Or maybe the book has a format unknown to CR3. As in extensions.cfg, supported formats are: asp, cgi, chm, epub, fb2, htm, html, jsp, mht, php, pl, rtf, txt.

You can try edit or delete "\system\config\handlers.cfg" (and then device switch off and on)

Hi brucelee,
thx, you're right, deleting 'handlers.cfg' does the job.
But there's one question left: Night mode (inverting) has always been one of my preferred features of coolreader. Now I'm always getting a completely black screen.
Any idea?

This is an example of what it can look like. Happens also with lists in the text. It's very annoying for me because I don't want to disable the embedded styles, I want to see the book as it was intended. AdobeViewer, FBReader and Kindle have no problem with this and display all the characters.

I'd really appreciate it if this could be fixed.

Choose the right version for your firmware (pro4 for FW 4.4, pro5 for FW 5.x) and copy the folders in the zip-file into the internal memory of your device.
All files which CR handles will then be opened with Coolreader automatically.

Thanks I use firmware 5.4 where can I download CoolReader and after I copy it to the internal memory of my device would it be possible to open pdf and epub with another reader like the native one on the device or the files will always open with CoolReader.

Thanks again

Download here:
https://github.com/blchinezu/pocketb...eader/releases

PDFs are not handled by CR, only by AdobeViewer.
For epubs, you should decide which reader software to use. Switching is not very convenient, but possible. It depends on what is written in the file extensions.cfg.
Unfortunately, the open-with-menu is not adaptable anymore in FW 5.4 and doesn't show Coolreader. Actually, I don't know if it's available at all in FW 5.4.
You can try this little script to reset handlers.cfg after changing the reader software for a certain book:
