I don't expect Kobo to fix this. It has been in the firmware for to long without change to expect anything to be done for a device they no longer manufacture.. |

Is the msd card missing on a system level (like if you telnet in, it's not in /proc/partitions either) or is it just the kobo firmware itself getting confused for some reason?
For the system level you could try re-binding the driver, it's a hack the Magic Memory Upgrade Mod uses to re-detect the [internal] SD card but should work the same way for the external one... |

The external SD card isn't missing at the system level as Windows will see it when the Touch is plugged in. And nickel will hang for a few seconds when you eject the card (but that might be the OS doing something and nickel not getting any CPU time).
I haven't looked much more than that as I don't use the Touch much now except for testing. Almost the only time I notice this is after a firmware upgrade when I restart the device to test if this has been fixed. On the other occasions I notice it, I just eject the card, wait a little bit and push it back in. |

Hi everyone,
I recently updated my old Touch N905B to 3.18.0 and applied the Metazoa firmware patches for the first time ever (added "Custom reading footer style" and "ePub fixed/adjustable top/bottom" to the ones that were already enabled). Everything was going fine until I dozed off reading (a sideloaded epub bought from Google Play transferred using Calibre) one night and woke up with the Kobo showing the empty battery screen. The device was fully charged when I started. So maybe a process went nuts and prevented the device from sleeping? Has anyone seen this before with this firmware? I hadn't done anything with the device other than flip between a few ePubs before settling on the one that eventually put me to sleep. I gotta say that I love that Kobo's updates still work on my 4+ year-old device... not many companies keep supporting their hardware for that long! james Last edited by sladflob; 11-09-2015 at 02:16 AM. |

I am finding that bookmarks/annotations in ePubs are showing the correct chapter, but wrong location within the chapter, instead showing the location within the whole book. E.g. If I am 25% through the book and make a bookmark on the first page of chapter 6, the bookmark says "Chapter 6 - 25% into chapter", when it should say "Chapter 6 - 0% into chapter". The ePub TOC is okay, and the book is correctly split into one chapter per file. KePub bookmarks/annotations are still working fine.
It could be this started before firmware 3.18.0, as I only make annotations to mark mistakes in the book for later correction in Calibre, and I usually only take note of the chapter the mistake is in and don't notice the location within the chapter since it is easier just to search for the annotated text, so I might not have noticed that the chapter location was wrong. |

I can't try, am back to 3.17.3 but I am almost sure the patch will be continued in the next firmware,if that is not giving so many refresh problems I will switch then.

I sometimes have one annotation marked with "0%" into the chapter, and the rest with "n%", corresponding to the actual percentage into the book. The one marked with 0% is not always the first is the chapter (I'd say it never is), I'm not sure what causes this. But I have 3.15.0, I believe...

When you make the annotation, the percent is correctly set and displayed in the annotations list. The annotations are stored in two places, the database and a file. When you close and reopen the book, the annotations are read from the file and update those in the database. Unfortunately, when this is done, the percentage and which chapter the annotation is in is reset. A mix of annotations with 0% and an actual number should mean you made annotations in a previous reading session and in the current one. |

Yes, I'm talking about epubs. It may be that those with 0% were done in the current session (certainly most of the annotations were done in previous sessions, and most have a non-zero percentage), but I believe I've seen the mix of zero and non-zero in fresh sessions as well: I return to the home screen, let it sleep, and next day I open the book to apply corrections in the PC.

What you are reporting is different to what I see. The percentage for existing annotations is always reset after closing and reopening the book. But, all new annotations show the correct percentage. |

Isn't that for epubs in the main memory? I have my epubs in an external card.
