Emblems in Book Details

That's probably rather an idea for an enhancement in Calibre itself than for a plugin but maybe someone would be interested:

It would be nice to have the possibility to use icons/emblems in the book details (e.g. below the cover), just as in the case of columns and the grid view. This way one could save some space (e.g. a little icon to mark the book as read might be more optimal for some users than the text information), especially if they have quite many columns displayed in the book details and the view is quite clattered.

@Joanna - I moved this out of plugin ideas because as you rightly suggest it is more-or-less the same as emblems in Grid View. And I'm not sure that a plugin can directly interact with the Book Details panel.

Whilst I wouldn't use it myself, I know of at least one other user who would

I hope someone would be interested in that (I posted it on launchpad before: https://bugs.launchpad.net/calibre/+bug/1516186).

There is a number of uses for emblems in book details: marking read books and books to be read, favorite books, book on the device, language of the book, and even things like genres if someone feels like that and finds graphics small and clear enough.

All in all, one could use emblems pretty much the same way as in the grid view or as icons in the standard view, with one difference: book details offer much more space, so that's where you could get really creative without cluttering the view.

I agree. I think this is a great idea. I use the custom icons application in details A LOT.
I'd love to see that same thing appear in the book details panel.
