It seems that yours is dead...
First I thought that you were less lucky than me because mine finally worked. But finally I think that the real luck is to have a device that is visually dead than a device who works approximatively, where it's difficult to prove ! .......and if I was dishonest, I would kill it myself to shorten his sufferings... and mine ![]() |

I only hope that it's not a case like this one https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...83#post2572783 where the front of the display looks 99,9% completely fine yet the back reveals that it's completely shattered.
Although in such a case, you would still get normal operation from the power LED (blinky-blink on bootup / reset). |

Since your H2O is frozen, have you tried a USB charger that is USB standard and not Apple standard? The problem is that with a USB charger that will not work to charge a Sony Reader, you will need to press the option to charge or connect and you cannot with a frozen screen. So a charger that is USB standard and works with a Sony Reader is what you may need so you won't have to press something on screen that you cannot press. I'll double check this to see if I am correct and let you know. I do have a USB charger from Sony that is USB standard and I'll check if it works to charge my H2O without having to press anything on screen.
A USB from the computer while USB standard won't work as the H2O detects it is a computer USB and asks for the press. |

The popup question is not about charging. You don't have the option of "not charging". You don't have to press anything to make it charge. It always charges, unless it's already full.

Have you left a Kobo Reader with the popup on screen plugged into a USB charger and have had the Kobo charge?

So, in my experience:
-if I connect the charger to the PC via a USB cable, then indeed I have to confirm "Connect", but this is related, I guess, to the fact that I am connecting to a PC (with eventual data transfer taking place) -if I connect the reader straight to the wall plug, then nothing pops up on the screen, it just charges the device and that's it. JSWolf, I am not sure what are you referring to when saying "USB charger". I guess you mean PC charging. In my case I have charged my reader using the wall plug, so everything should be OK, because I don't have to interact with the screen. |

I've finally got the replacement of the damaged Kobo Aura H2O. However, because it took almost 3 months from the moment it crashed till I've got the new device, I would certainly NOT rate the experience as stellar. On the contrary, during these 3 months, my satisfaction with Kobo decreased abruptly.
Let's see why... After the totally unexplained failure of the previous device (after only 8 months of very careful use), and given the many delays on the part of the seller in servicing or replacing the device, I've decided to buy a Kobo Glo HD, just as a replacement, just to keep on going with the reading. However, the device had a hole in the screen/dead pixel, whatever...Had to send it back... Coming back to the replacement of my original Kobo H2O, it also has a defect, namely, one of the lamps on the lower part of the device is not protected and it is very pronounced (I've seen similar cases here, on the forum). However, I will have to stick with it, I simply cannot bear another 2 to 3 months just writing e-mails and waiting for a new device. All in all, I am more than just a little bit disappointed by the latest quality of Kobo products... |

But I do have to say that my H2O is pristine. I got it from Chapters. |

And guess what. I have taken a closer look at the device, I haven't seen it right from the start...On the top and left margins, right above the screen, I see some dents in the plastic, like someone was using a knife to polish something from there. As a result, those areas are now grey and rough. That's really incredible! Maybe the guys at Mondadori (the seller) just don't accept that some devices can be faulty and they try to minimize their expenditures. Totally terrible! |
