Interesting. I just got a confirmation of a refund. I'm wondering if I'm going to get a free mini? I've been waiting for a shipping confirmation from kobo ... just called them and they don't know either

I've been escalated to Level II and I'm to get a reply from them. So, we live in interesting times!

Got my email for a refund in full last night, and no request for return. BTW, mine is holding a charge like a new unit. Thank you, KOBO, for the gift.

Wish AMAZON would have been this kind. When my paperwhite battery died, they would not replace it, so I had to buy a new one at full price.

I received a refund during the night. This had to have been an expensive mistake for Kobo. I think our posts about it (and especially Nate's blog post) made a difference in what might have otherwise been individuals having frustrating attempts at resolution, with varying results.

If they were demo units the cost is not as great as one might think. The devices were already made and were sitting in Kobo's warehouse. They've lost the money from selling them, but made up for it with the PR, the cost of the actual devices was probably long since all but written off.

It's still a wise move on their part to do this, even if this cost them nothing.

Mini pre-refund offer: old battery, old screen, demo unit, worthless---give me my money back. Mini post-refund offer: same objections, valuable---gave me my money back and I get to keep it; score!

I have received an email stating that I will get a full refund and may keep the device. Also asking if I still want the gray case.

Still no refund in my account.

even if your refund was processed immediately by Kobo it could be a few business days before your account is credited. At least some of the delay is probably from your bank. With a refund like this it might take a bit longer.

My local Family Christian store stopped selling Kobo Readers years ago right after I bought one. Call before wasting time going to store without Kobo readers. Mine came with free bibles.

I bought the cover online. $14 was a little much, but I really wanted a cover.
