Calibre can't see iPhone

Calibre 2.41 on Win 7/64 pc
iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2
also Android reader

It's been some time since I plugged in my iPhone to add a few new books from Calibre.

Today, Calibre does not recognize the iphone when it's plugged in. Marvin loads from the iPhone screen. There's a little red 3 on the Marvin application, but I don't know how to find out what that means.

3 means three new/unopened books.

Might need to ask in Calibre forum about Calibre not recognizing the phone??

If the iphone hasn't been plugged in to Calibre for a year, and now Calibre can't see the iphone, then there can't be 3 new books.

There are other methods of adding books to Marvin besides Calibre....

If you don't think that's what the 3 means, which it may not - I haven't seen an image to which "3" you are referring" - then I would recommend looking it up in the Marvin user's manual.

Are you not able to simply drag and drop books onto the Marvin application in iTunes? That's the way that most iThing apps load files.

I'm having the same problem. Can't get calibre to see Marvin on iphone 6s plus. Latest version of calbre and Marvin.

Thanks, yea I'm at IOS 9.1. Bummer. Oh well your suggestion about dropping into itunes works well. Click on phone, then click on apps. You'll see the installed apps. Scroll to the bottom there is a list of apps for file sharing. Marvin is one. You can just drop it into Marvin, no need to even do an itunes sync. Just quit and reopen Marvin.
