Nope. I used last year on a Kindle Fire 6" tablet, made the last payment in February. They offered it again when I bought my Paperwhite 3 a few weeks ago. Same account. Not sure there is a rhyme or reason, but it is nice when they offer the option.

Yep. I've used payment plans twice (once for the old (button) Basic Kindle) and once for my Fire HD6. Now they're offering me payments for a Voyage, but not the Paperwhite on sale. (I'm really not in the market for either.)

I don't think there really are any rules--it's just when and who Amazon decides to make the offer to. Have no idea what their criteria is or how many times within any given period they make the offer.

If you really want a payment plan, do what CiniaJoy suggested. Take the amount of the Voyage (or whatever you want to purchase) and divide by the number of payments that you want to make and just set that amount aside each month. Then after you have the total amount set aside order the Voyage. The only difference is that you won't have the Voyage immediately--but you'll be able to pay for it fully when you get it.

For a $200 Voyage, you could set aside $50/month then after four months you'd have enough money set aside to pay for the Voyage.

No. This couple was given a house. They just had to pay the taxes. And do any repairs. The taxes were less than $200 a year. They said paying rent of $400 a month was cheaper.
They also said that paying rent to own $1200 for a used washer was cheaper than $300 for the same one new.
They are now mooching off their grown daughter.

Wasn't given a choice when I purchased my PW2 a few months ago. Amazon Only provided me with the payment option. I had cash in hand. I went with the PW2 cause it had a longer battery life or so every one inc Amazon said so. Then last week my neighbor had a book I wanted to read & I had one she wanted to read so we Swapped ereaders for a week. That's when I found out the PW2 Battery at the Same setting as the PW3 had the same amount of battery life for me. So when they went on sale I figured why not get one. Yes I put the Full amount in my sons bank account so Amazon can Trickle it out at $22 a month. Right now the rest of my spare change goes direct to Walmart for my new TV I been wanting for over a year. Excuse me Needing! My old eyes cant see the 19" tv any more

They offered that to me when I went looks my for a replacement for my K2 about a year and half ago. I bought a DX along with an Amazon cover for $209. There was no tax,shipping or interest. Just $209 in 5 payments.

I could have put the money aside and waited but I'm glad I didn't because the DX had been discontinued and released for short time before being discontinued again.

I've been offered the same deal on almost every Amazon device I've looked at but haven't used it again.

I once told a person that if they would pay me every week what the rent to own wanted to charge them for a washer, we would buy it outright for them. We said just until it is paid for.
They said no. That would be too expensive.
Said washer new was $300. They paid $1200 to the Rent to Own for the exact same washer except it had been used and returned.
That logic confused me.
So did their it is cheaper to pay $400 a month for rent instead of $200 a year in property taxes and the occasional repair..

I went with the payment plan on the PW3 because it was interest free. I figured why not spread it out a bit if its not costing me anything. I agree though that the rent to own stuff with high interest is crazy.
