Same thing re: Ultimate Rotation Control or any similar app. Does this device know which way is up?
No, it doesn't look like NGP has an orientation sensor ...

Oh, one more thing... If you have 30-60 minutes while it gradually does its thing, and a Windows PC (or a Mac running Windows in a VM), you can root the NGP with Kingo Root for Windows. After it achieved root for me, I then installed SuperSU and System App Remover.. Once SuperSU downloaded its binary, I used System App Remover to delete the Kingo Root superuser, just to be safe. I have installed SetCPU and it works.

Things just got a little more interesting in Nookie Land!

You should not have used that app.

I've bought the Glowlight Plus and I know about the Glowlight Plus not working with ADE. I'm not too familiar with Calibre, but since B&N has yet to release an update, I wanted to ask, how do you set up Calibre to transfer ePubs (I check them out from Openlibrary.org) to the Glowlight Plus? When I download the books from Openlibrary.org, each one downloads as an .acsm file, for which I have to open ADE to open them as ePubs. At this point, how do I transfer the ePubs to the Glowlight Plus, and how do I have to setup Calibre to do it? I downloaded the latest 2.42.

I'd seriously appreciate any help! :-D

Unfortunately, you can't.

calibre can transfer the book file, but that won't authorize the Nook to read the book.
You need ADE to authorize the Nook, but B&N apparently didn't bother to test that it worked before releasing.

...

YES calibre can solve that problem with help from Alf, but the tools do not work on library books, and with good reason.

Yes, I had seen some of those concerns. I used Kingo Root in a virtual machine, which I have never used for credit card info and such. I uninstalled it after use. I've run an antivirus check. All seems okay. If it isn't, I can trash the VM and do another one. Still, it may not have been the most prudent thing on my part! Most of what I want to do with the NGP can be done without root. But curiosity got the cat, so to speak. It doesn't seem to have killed the cat - not yet, anyway!

Oddly enough, some devs in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S forum (among others) use Kingo Root for rooting - but then say to replace whatever Kingo Root does with SuperSu and such afterwards - which is what I did. We shall see!

I find it strange that it takes that long to roll out ...

What's even stranger is that this update doesn't even appear on B&N's site, but lo and behold, one day, my NGP suddenly updated. Mystery.

Still no update. I'm pretty much done at this point. I have a couple days left in my return window but I think I'll be returning. This is just ridiculous to roll this out with such a huge flaw. And I agree if there really is an update why no mention on their site. Their customer service on Twitter doesn't seem to make mention of it other than they are working on it. Horribly disappointing.

I have the kindle PW at home deciding between the 2 and I think I'm liking the kindle more regardless and I got it on sale for much cheaper.

Hang on...so the NGP still isn't kosher with Overdrive (and other public library) books?

I have created a wiki page for the Nook GlowLight Plus. Note the user manual says nothing about a segmented memory, nor does the review I read.

From your wiki it says

OS: Linux, not Android

That does not sound right. Everything I've read so far says it is android.

You are probably right, but the user manual provided no insight as to how to access the OS directly. Perhaps it is an oversight in the manual. I will pull this from the wiki.
