Best Ebooks on Amazon?

Pick it up, read it today or tomorrow and if it is incorrect return it and report it.

I'm still new to ebooks in general. I'm used to reading paperbooks and they give me a sense of 'comfort' knowing that the book was published in a factory and cannot be edited once it's printed.

The author is a leading research scientist in his field. That seems like a good basis to write knowledgeably about the subject.

1) You can do some research.

2) Find out what credentials, if any, the author has.

3) Read reviews.

4) Ask one of your medical friends.

5) Find out the copyright date. Medical information changes.

6) Find out who the Publisher is.

7) Ask specific questions on Mobileread.

How do you make sure paper books contain the correct information and wouldn't you use a similar process?

I suppose it's true that your specific copy of a paper book can't be changed, but paper books often do change between print runs. Also if the publisher were to edit the ebook and upload those changes to Amazon you won't receive those changes unless you specifically tell Amazon to update the copy in your Kindle Cloud (either by turning on automatic updates or by leaving that off and manually okaying it for each updated book).

How do you know what's in a paper book is correct? Surely you don't trust it just because it's a printed book? There's nothing stopping the author/publisher of your specific book from making a printed copy available as well as an ebook like many authors/publishers do, doing so doesn't make the contents of the book any more (or less) correct.

William Llewelyn: Yeah, unfortunately they don't have courses on this in college. I probably would have spent more time there if they did. In some regards this put me on a level playing field though, as I didn't miss out by not specializing in this area in school. It is a subject you have to really educate yourself on, which means spending a lot of time in a medical library. It does help to have a background in the sciences of course, although I admit I do not. I just try to make up for my lack of a formal background with a good amount of persistence.

I was going from his Amazon author's page which says:

I was literally about to buy the ebook, but reading this stopped me in my tracks. How can I be sure the ebook contains accurate information?

Other than an eBook being a little easier to publish/distribute, it has nothing to do with it being an eBook. It either has good info or not whether it's digital or print (or like most titles both).

It is the 10th edition so I would trust it.
It has been the number one best seller for a long time.
Oh and here is a quick search on the author.

Oh and just because something in print does not always make it true.
