I don't know. The Voyage was out for about six months before the PW3 was released. So in that time, it was competing with the lower-spec PW2, and even then consumers didn't appear to see the extra Voyage features justified the extra cost.

Good e-reader "borrowed" the scoop from this MR thread We have the word of Amazon CS that there will be a new Voyage in November. For what that's worth. |

If the Voyage has actually sold 1/3 as much as the new Paperwhite then I don't think that's so bad since it's considerably more expensive with just about the same screen.
I read a few different forums and when readers mention their device the Voyage is mentioned quite a lot. It's not a rare thing at all. I've been a Paperwhite reader since they first came out and I thought it was pretty much perfect till I got the Voyage. I don't use the extra features and I can't tell much difference in the screens while reading but I really like the flat surface and the smaller size and the lighter weight. While the Voyage might only weigh an ounce less than the Paperwhite, the Voyage and it's case, weighs less than half as much as the Paperwhite and it's case, even though the cases for both are pretty much the same. The extra size of the Paperwhite makes it's case a lot heavier. So it's a significant weight reduction. I'm really not that sure how well the number of reviews correlates with the number of sales, either. It might be that we snobbish Voyage readers think of ourselves as above all that and don't bother writing reviews. ![]() More realistically though, the Paperwhite is so good that a lot of people aren't motivated to get something else. I had decided not to get one and then one day I did on a whim. I felt kind of silly afterward, until it got here. Barry |

And anyway, that thread proved to be wrong. There was no Kindle launched in September. |

* gadget freaks who want the latest and greatest * heavy e readers who can justify spending more for what they use most * people with disposable income for whom an additional $80 isn't a huge deal * people who really really want buttons, even pseudo buttons This is not a huge group. No surprise it doesn't sell as well. But I disagree with the blogger cited by nate who says the voyage may go the way of the DX. The DX appealed to an even smaller segment and butt-headed with tablets and lost. It was too expensive at the start and then too outdated at the end. |

See this is why I would never buy a reader from these guys. They're just not competent. If you can't understand that a product that generally does the same thing as something half it's price will not sell as many units then you are foolish. Obviously luxury products will sell fewer units. That is obvious to everyone.

Did it? ISTR we were snarking in that thread about him copying us -- says or more like weeks later.
Maybe I remember wrongly. Quote:
