Another day on the highway, another tall foam cup of unimpressive road coffee.

My brother bought me a bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon for my birthday, so I'm having a glass of that.

A morning cup of my "Russian Caravan" Blend tea today, as I try to get everything ready for a week on the road. I'm headed to Washington state for a conference, and then a couple of days in the office on the way back. This will mean no decent tea until I get to the office on Friday. And no single malt either.

A second night of Lagavulin. I'm trying to build up my residual peat level sufficiently to survive the coming week on the road.

A glass of lager at the moment.
As it was my birthday while I was working away and I've just had all my presents I have a dilemma later. I have to choose from Bowmore, Singleton of Dufftown, Laphroig, Talisker Skye and Buffalo Trace for my bedtime tipple! |

Now there's a problem that's nice to have. Enjoy whichever you choose! (And happy birthday!)

I just got in from a (short) road trip and I'm finishing off a Coke Zero. But I'm putting on some water for an evening tea. |

Yuzu Sencha this morning. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite teas. It has a nice citrus bite to it. Great tea. We had a very successful Halloween. Little Man dressed like our dog and had fun going door to door. We had to prompt him on his "trick or treat" and "thank you" but I think that is normal for 3. We had several neighbors who got candy because they like him and had their light son for the first time in years. Needless to say he got spoiled like mad at those houses. This caused a slight problem at the next house. At Neighbor 1 house, LM was encouraged to take multiple items for four separate bowls. This neighbor has passed on some toys that she had saved from her now college age sons toddler days so she really likes LM. At the next house, LM sees a second bowl with candy in it. He points to it and announces "But I didn't get anything from that one." We quickly explained that was ok and he need to say thank you for he did get, which he did but he was clearly confused. We reinforced good trick or treat behavior in between houses and did not have a repeat performance. He was very excited at houses that gave more then one piece of candy and told us that his bag was too heavy carrying it home. All in all a good night with a few embarrassing moments for the parents. |

We had a mercifully quiet Halloween. By intent. Though it does sound like yours was a lot of fun, ProfCrash, we're a bit past that here.
![]() Sitting here drinking Microsoft Event Coffee (MSEC). This is a truly unappealing but at the same time inoffensive brew. If it weren't for the caffeine, I definitely wouldn't bother. Worst is, I know I can get a decent latte or brewed coffee on campus, but only if one can get in to employee areas. |

$5 for two ounces which should be more then enough for you to try. I do a fair amount of my tea shopping there. The Oolongs are all pretty darn good. |
