Yes, it's a slow-paced, in-depth story, but I like that a lot; I like being a "fly on the wall" at decision-making meetings and understanding why people make the decisions that they do. Excellent.
I am about 3/4 of the way through it and I have to say Harry has nailed it. I too am enjoying the book for the same reasons.

There are very few series that I enjoy sufficiently to pay "hardback" prices for the ebook, but for me this is in the very short list .

I, OTOH, opted to use an Audible Credit and wait for paperback prices. Especially since this isn't even couponable at Kobo.

I am still in the midst of 1Q84 which I am enjoying quite a bit but I had a long road trip today so I got the audiobook for The Eiger Sanction by Trevanian to listen to while driving. I am enjoying it so far but I am not sure when I will have time to listen to the rest (another 4 hours). Unfortunately I can't listen to an audiobook and work at the same time and I prefer to read rather than listen for my normal commute. I may take a couple days and listen to the rest when 1Q84 is done unless another trip comes up.

I'm reading them for the first time. Now about 70% into The Potter's Field, book #17. I plan to read through the rest of the series by year end. Very much enjoying them and will be sad when I've read #20.

Finished. Just about what you'd expect, with one new twist and a lot of the old ones. I admit, these books are a guilty almost-pleasure. They're really not all that good, there's little character development, Kris is rarely in any believable danger, and all the bad actors in one book are either redeemed or killed off by the end of the book, except for the main enemy. None the less, I enjoy them, and I read them.

Next up, a Bill Slider mystery from Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. I was poking around the Kobo site, coupon in hand, when I noticed that there were two of them I hadn't read. Needless to say, I took care of that little problem.

Next was Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine for December 2015. Disappointing. Far too many of the stories were more fantasy than SF, and edging towards literary Fantasy at that. More what I'd have expected in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Next up: Not sure.

Well, I've still got the next Bill Slider on my Kindle, but somehow, I got sidetracked and I'm reading Fool Moon, the second book in the Dresden Files series from Jim Butcher. Ah, well, should be fun at least. And Hard Going, the Bill Slider #16 will just have to wait a little bit.

I'm reading A Stranger in Olondria. I'm only 10% in but I am loving it. The language and descriptions are gorgeous.

I hate describe a book by referencing other books like this but I think you could say it is a bit of a combination of Wizard of Earthsea and Two Years in the French West Indies by Lafcadio Hearn with some David Copperfield thrown in?

Ah but so much fun to have a kick-ass female captain. When I read your first post, I went to the library's Overdrive site and requested that they get Kris Longknife: Unrelenting. They did, and I received notification this morning that it's been checked out to me. (Just in time for Sci-Fi month!) Now to download it to my Kindle and start reading!

Finished reading The Potter's Field while I was out at lunch. Stopped by the library to pick up Sonoma Rose (Jennifer Chiaverini, #19 in Elm Creek Quilts) and saw that the latest No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency book was available, so I picked up The Woman Who Walked in Sunshine and immediately started reading it. I should finish tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on how much time I get to spend reading it.

Yes, she's fun. I just wish the series were a bit better written. But I do keep buying it. (No chance of getting my library to get it. )

5/5 again. An excellent story. Poor old Sharpe! Cornwell doesn't half put him through the wringer!

I'm exceedingly pleased that I picked this lot up back in October and December 2013 when they were on special offer.

October 31st: Dominion by Fred Saberhagen. The fifth in his series about Dracula.
