From the looks of it, GoodEreader might just manage to raise $25,000

Which is 1/8 of what they expected to get.

At the current rate, I don't see how they will ever manage to place an order.
I don't think Netronix takes orders of 100.

People had better hope he's as willing to give back the money as he says he is...

I don't know, but that may be because the pink elephant is blocking my vision. It's rather large, you see.

I figure the end will be this:
"Due to the expenses of running this fundraiser we are unable to refund your money."

Funny joke, but I don't think anyone is served here by fake quotes (unless that really is a quote). They look bad enough without attributing things to them that they never wrote.

I don't think anyone other than you thought that was an attributed quote.

In fact, I am surprised you thought it was.

I think it was fairly obvious that Cinisajoy was theorizing about what they *might* say, if the post she was responding to (mine) was an accurate assessment.

I don't see any reason to make jokes about them being crooks. I think we should wait and see. Maybe they will give refunds. Let's give them a chance before we make such negative assumptions.

I didn't. But I do think that writing it as if it were their words, isn't appropriate in this case. If he had written "I can just imagine their response..." before it, it would be a non-issue.

The last update showed some promise with the new alliance with Netronix (July of 2015 http://www.meetearl.com/updates/) but the overall bungling of the project is a tough one to swallow.
Earl hasn't been an opera, in an opera something happens...

There's no question that they have been crooks. The only question is whether they have reformed.

I second this. I don't think it was obviously satire. It is risky to assume that your irony or sarcasm will translate clearly in a forum post. I think more care should be taken.

I think the emoticon used was enough to show sarcasm and or irony. That is what they are for are they not.

Well, think of the Earls as being the equivalent of the ring cycle, why only have an opera a few hours long when you can get 4 days out of it.

It might end up being really similar, and instead of an e-ink sat-nav device a big lass with pigtails and a chain mail bra comes over and shouts directions at you.

I believe that there is quite a lucrative market from gentlemen who enjoy that kind of thing, Mike!
