Classic!
![]() And you know, supposedly the original title was going to be "Bobbing for babies"? Last edited by eschwartz; 10-27-2015 at 10:56 AM. |

I know. I read about that in one of his books. He was already receiving hate mail from animal lovers for quite a few of his cartoons before this one was published. Can you imagine what kind hate mail he would've generated if he'd gone with the baby caption?

I can imagine -- I was just (re)reading The PreHistory of the Far Side, which has a whole chapter on "Public Response".

Our first night at ski school was always referred to as "dwarf tossing" when dealing with the little kids on the magic . the kcarpetids would fall off in all sorts of directions and positions. we basically had all hands on deck to recover downed short people, get them out of the way of the out of control short people, get them upright and shove them off in the direction of someone looking like an instructor wearing something that looked like our school jacket.
so yeah, inappropriate terms for awkward situations ![]() |

The Party is in full swing and so far a big success. We have 18 kids in total, our 2 plus 16 overnighting. 7x 11 years old, 4x 13 years old, 7x 15 years old. Does the dog count too ?
We made a huge Pumpkin out of Papier Maché (that book is really good and gave us great ideas), also made a tombstone with a RIP sign, decorated the whole lower floor with huge spiderwebs, including spiders, made bats out of toilet roll paper and trash bags and hanged them from the ceiling upside down (they look so cute though, we put glow sticks ion their heads so their eyes are glowing in the dark). 3 skeletons are watching from corners. No electric lights, only artificial candles. The kids all have brilliant costumes !!! We have 1 skeleton, 1 harry potter, 1 little riding red hood, 1 big bad wolf, 1 snow white, 2 vampires, 1 zombie, 1 clockwork orange (obviously the parents are behind that idea), 1 ghost, 1 buffy, 1 chuckie, 1 dead bride (it's a boy, and he looks brilliant), 1 joker, 1 voldemort, 1 morticia, and only 2 kids without costumes (they just landed from NY and had no time to create a costume). The costumes are fantastic, those kids really put lot of time into making them, I am amazed.. The big ones are now telling the small ones scary stories. You can tell who has an older brother or sister, and who has not. My daughter is so blasé, while other friends of her are really scared. My husband did a lot of work to decorate everything for us, and is now free to lounge in front of the TV upstairs, while I am on watch. This is going to be a long night.. ![]() |

Cool. Glad it worked out. I found that book at the library and the concepts on how to apply the paper mache really help.
