The Vent and Rant Thread - Page 1772

The building next to my bedroom is being renovated in preparation for a new restaurant. After over a month of ripping, hammering, jackhammering and drilling you would think they should have finished stripping the place. But no. They usually start around 8am in the attic (right next to my bedroom), which is okay since that's about the time I get up.

This morning I start work an hour later and they start hammering and drilling at 6.30am!

The only added bonus is that it seems the students have been kicked out, so no loud music and parties. I'm secretly hoping they'll convert the upstairs to apartments instead of student lets.

I'm lucky I only have to walk down the stairs.

But it has its drawbacks; a lot of people know we live over the shop and ring the doorbell in the evening and on Sunday and Monday when we're closed. I don't mind in when there's an emergency (e.g.blown fuses) but some people think it's an emergency when the batteries of the remote control have died. We once had a fellow shop owner who kept coming by on Monday, after a while he proudly told my father that he did that because that way he was helped immediately and didn't have to wait in line!

(sigh)

So we have to enroll for benefits. One problem, my company will not have its health care package available until January. So we cannot compare plans with my Husbands companies options. Ugggghhh

grrrrrrrrr!!! in viewing houses yesterday my clients' son had a meltdown and threw my cell phone out of the car window!!!!!

I can't believe how dependent I have become on it! even with insurance the replacement costs $199!!!!!!
