I wouldn't buy it just because the people that run it are just plain dumb. And I wouldn't trust them to deliver.

I don't like the look of that ereader at all. Why so much bezel at the bottom of the reader? Also, why use indiegogo and not Kickstarter? If they don't meet their goal on Kickstarter then no one loses any money. But on indiegogo they get to keep any funds that are donated. There's no way they're making their goal of $220,000. What happens if they only raise $10-15,000? There's no way they're going to produce an ereader with that. Have they said what will happen in that instance? Will they refund everyone's money?

I'll admit that there is a cynical part of me that wonders whether this is why they chose indiegogo. Caveat emptor, that's all I'm gonna say. (What's the closest Latin equivalent for "crowdfunding backers"? ) Last edited by meeera; 10-26-2015 at 09:00 AM.

Why am I probably smelling snake oil? Though this is not the strangest crowd funding I have seen.

I just looked at the site and they are using "Flexible Funding". Aka we are keeping your money.

Possibly also worth pointing out -- they could have chosen fixed funding. But they state that if they don't raise the full amount they asked for, they will still go through with the campaign -- they just won't get as good a deal or something. If they decide they didn't raise enough money, they will voluntarily give refunds. ... Leaves a lot of room for "accidents" and "miscalculation", if you ask me. They could've asked for the minimum amount needed to commit to going forward, at least. |

It looks like their "ultimate" goal is to sell 4,000 eReaders. They're hoping for 220,000 dollars which is around 1150 readers. At their current pace they seem to be heading towards a total of... 260. Unless production of electronic goods is far easier than I imagine, I don't see any possibility of companies filling an order of 260 units. They tout their own app store app but it doesn't seem to be available anymore and what they do have on the Android app store seems like amateur hour. They have a Good Ereader news app that is poorly reviewed and an app that let's you shop at their store which only has a hundred downloads and one five star review which is from ONE OF THE GOODEREADER GUYS! Does anyone seriously want to risk almost 200 bucks on this fantasy? |

You have Michael Kozlowski's personal promise that he will give back all the money if they fail to reach an adequate goal.
