The 10% only applies to books with VIP discount. Not all books have VIP discount unfortunately!

I wish Kobo would provide some categories buttons on these concession lists. They are mostly heavy with romance and sci-fi, which means people with little interests in these two areas might just forgo going through these lists entirely.

They did have a link that was categories--I didn't link to that because it had my associate code in it! I had to click on something to get that out. Sorry! But that particular list does have a category start.

Then just look for your category and you should be able to find the books better.

And yes, they have too many romance/paranormal chests, etc.

I do appreciate a nice sci-fi, but the books usually offered by Kobo are never from the publishers I like :/

I've found that for just about anything I put in the search on Kobo, even if it's the exact title of a book, in the top 1 or 2 results will be a "romance" title. Commonly with covers more suited to a porn/fetish shop than a general bookstore. More than a few are downright disturbing. Maybe they've realized that you have to be a masochist to shop there, so that's who they're targeting themselves towards.

Honestly it's a big reason I'm using Kobo less and less. They really seem to have gone to some trouble to communicate that, whoever their target market is, it isn't me.

I did a search on "Take the Monkeys and Run" the other day and it would NOT come up unless I added Karen Cantwell, the author. Irritated the bezeebers out of me. I thought that happened because it was a free book and they didn't want me to get my download. But then I figured it was just the randomness that is kobo.

For a couple of months their search seemed to actually work. In the past month or so I've noticed it's gotten horrible again. In fact I think it's worse than before. I have no idea how Kobo can take something that used to work and make it WORSE. LOL [search, contest etc]
