I refuse to even consider believing a word they say, until these "reports" stop unabashedly ignoring whole acknowledged sectors of the market. Where does BookNet Canada get their data from, hmmm? Quote:
I'm sure people were claiming they just didn't get the same satisfaction out of riding a horseless carriage as they got out of riding a horse-drawn carriage, too. And so on back and forth through history, and the history of societal innovation and change. It is extremely... unlikely... that such people make up a statistically significant percentage of the population. Last edited by eschwartz; 10-22-2015 at 12:03 PM. | |

My online sources tell me that ebook downloads are up by 1000% from yesterday. Source: Cindy's 4th Kindle. Hey it makes as much sense as that online website. Full disclosure: 1 book yesterday, 11 today. |

Okay I see, they are asking people what categories they read in, rather than asking what books they read and assigning the publisher's category. That might explain why general literary fiction is more popular than romance:

i do not know why I do but here my idea and my forecast my idea the problems are three, in order of importance 1) Lack of culture- there is no general marketing to induce consumers to use ebooks the sad truth is that a a really laaarge percentage of people think that ereaders are the ipad with the inbuilt reading program. (why everybody knows whatsapp? ) 2)Lack of investment in R&D by manufacturers worried by the sales of their books and not the hardware- big companies are not willingly to offer killing features 3) Lack of interest in making the price of the ebook affordable- people do not like they want to become rich, and not accept the idea of intellecctual propriety seeing not reasonable the gap between hard copy and a download. forecasts 3 years: ebook will not die - when you read digital paper no way to go back if not for narcisism or reasons of collections.ebook is the way to read outside a big house, the problem is that Ms I_Bring_Only_One_Book_When_I_Go_Out, never tried the beauty and the yummy advantages to own an ereader for 3 months. when apple and google will make double eink telephones, will start also tablets and the mass market will know eink technology and ebook sales will become amazing again Last edited by trocchietto; 10-22-2015 at 04:01 PM. |

If romance is coming in tenth on their genre list, their sample is not remotely close to being representative of the market.
