Has anyone cracked their voyage screen?
So I personally know three people, four including me, who use different eink kindles. And we've all cracked one or more of our screens at some point (Classic broken screen substrate. No apparent physical damage, just lines all over a no longer usable screen). Two of us were using a cover at the time.
I'm curious if the voyage has a less crack prone screen. Has anyone cracked their voyage screen, with or without cover? Thanks |

The Voyage has a rigid metal case rather than the rather flexible plastic case of the PW, so in theory one would expect it to be more resilient to the bending forces which are what generally cause broken screen substrates. I don't recall anyone posting a report of a broken Voyage screen.

Could also be that because the Voyage costs that much more than other Kindles that people take better care.

The lack of report does seem promising. If goodEreader wants to do something useful, they could try some testing in this regard. Dropping from increasing heights, putting weights on top of screen, etc.
The news that we MAY have a userland jailbreak has renewed my interest in the voyage. Question now is will there be a voyage 2 this year. |

My Voyage just feels much more durable than other kindles I have. Now mind you, I still have all my kindles going back the original K1 I got in 2008 and I have not broken any screen on any of them. They all still work fine, although the K1 does has some issues calling home at this point. I charge and pet it once a month.
![]() Voyage just feels solid. I am not any more careful with it than any other kindle. I actually read this one without a cover, love how light it is, but put it in one at night and for bed reading. Nothing to do what I paid for it. I paid almost $400 for my first kindle ![]() |

My issue with the Voyage is not the screen but the black rubberized cover of it. Mine, for some reason, is peeling away and I am using a cover!

I tried but you can't see it in the photos since I desperately tried to cover it via black pentel ink. And I never took it out of my Omoton case anymore since I thought it was my constant taking off the cover that causes the peeling.

When I had a voyage (only briefly) I thought it did seem more durable than past kindles. That said, I lightly dropped my paperwhite once while in its case and it was fine.
