I did say the native Sphinx EPUB builder was likely not optimal. But it is the newest version, by a couple of changes.

And the difference between it and what RbnJrg put out is that he actually spent time on it.
Feel free to use whichever (keeping in mind that my EPUB has the latest changes, for whatever that is worth).

Duplicating what he did shouldn't be that hard anyway, the important thing is to not be working from PDF!

I'd have moved it even if there had been no responses. The fact that you wanted to use Sigil to do your project doesn't change the fact that there's nothing Sigil-specific about your project. You simply wanted help creating an epub (which I'm happy you got, BTW). Good luck going forward.

You are welcome. I attach a new version this time with the images re-inserted (and others minor changes).

Is there a shortcut to removing tables? I've included a screenshot of an example of them + the html.
Why? The .azw3 supports very well tables. I also attach a Kindle version so you can see how it looks.

Rubén

PS: It would be convenient that you read this ebook in landscape mode with your ereader.

Rubén, I don't really have words. You've done damn near everything (as well as probably a few things I missed). I have a feeling my work on this will be very small now. And actually on those tables, I agree they do work well in azw3 -- I had no idea until earlier today when I was messing with it on the kindle that you could press on one and zoom to see it all, kind of like an image. Thank you x100.

Cheers,
Michael

Disclaimer: I have no idea how well Sphinx documentation actually fares with the builting EPUB converter, you can probably do a lot better with manual love and care.

Ah... worth noting. The latest revision was 2012-10-13

Very interesting. I had installed Sphinx but I never thought to use it to build an epub. Could you explain me the steps you followed to build the manual? Many thanks in advance.

The manual has a link to the source repository at https://code.launchpad.net/~thinkcsp...thinkcspy3-rle (It uses Launchpad's Bzr VCS, but you can also download the tarball at "Browse the code" --> View Revision (starts at latest) --> Download tarball).

For general elucidation of people:
The manual was written in reStructuredText, which together with Sphinx (which processes *.rst input) is the standard form of Python documentation.
Sphinx comes with a number of builtin "builder" modules to generate documentation output. In addition to html, it also offers htmlhelp (for CHM), LaTeX, txt, texinfo, manpages, xml, and of course EPUB.

This manual also has a default Makefile, so once you have the *.rst source for the manual it is as simple as
Code:
make epub
Or if you don't have Make, you can directly run:
Code:
sphinx-build -d build/doctrees/ -b epub source/ build/epub/

P.S. I un-hid (? ) the ToC and rebuilt the EPUB, much nicer. Again, this is just the default (mostly) source compiled into an EPUB directly via Sphinx.

File Type: epub HowtoThinkLikeaComputerScientistLearningwithPython.epub (1.41 MB, 106 views)

@RgnJrg, did you by any chance update the text to include these revisions? I had assumed I would need to do so but when I went to make the changes they had already been made! If so, you are awesome. If not, you are still awesome and must have used the best possible source. Gosh, there doesn't seem to be anything for me to do now other than read the book and see if I find any small errors!

No, I don't do any update, just I utilized the text of the online manual and that text is updated And for sure, you'll find a lot of errors
