Okay. I don't know where I got that idea from. Of course, Shakepeare used both.

No, but Ben Franklin once said that a person was boring if they only knew how to spell a word one way.

Americans wrongly refer to the letter z as "zee". Canadians say "zed". I always thought the English, and indeed, people in all English-speaking countries other than the U.S. say "zed", and the 'Murcans are the weird ones saying "zee".

My Oxford dictionary in my sony prs-t1 shows the British pronunciation as zed and the U.S. as zee.

"Zed" is the name of the letter, not the way it's pronounced in words. British English says "zebra" the same as American English, but with a short "e", rather than a long "e" as American English has.

I was, of course, being facetious. In American English we don't name the letters independent from their sound unless of course you are talking about the military.

Ha, you got me on that one. It began as two U's so we took your words for it. It was the last letter added to the alphabet. I think it was in the 1800's that we simplified all of the words and letters about the same time as Webster did his dictionary.

That's right; both "J" and "W" are modern additions, and weren't widely used until the 17th century. Shakespeare's "First Folio" uses neither.

With a Kobo device you can't zoom into pictures with normal epubs or mobi files. You have to convert all e-books to the kobo epub format.

I have reported this bug several times but Kobo doesn't fix it.

I don't recommend buying a Kobo device.

Technically this is not a bug per se. Kobo uses totally different reading software for kepub and epub. For ePub they use Adobe Digital Reader and it does not support zooming. So it is just a missing feature rather than a bug. Kobo gets the kepub software from ACCESS. There are lots of different features in the two products.

For 6 up to 7 inch devices it's necessary to be able to zoom into the pictures. If it isn't possible you can't read textbooks in a real matter.

Maybe it's not a bug but it isn't a feature, too.

Completely not part of the original topic, but what about U and V? Considering the U is a relatively new addition too... And why isn't the W "double V" instead of a "double U"?
