Yep, I agree with that, although normally the 25% codes brought the prices on kobo to just under Amazon's.

Kobo must know they are so much dearer surely.

Yeah, it depends on the book. One book I bought is $14.99 at Amazon and $26.95 at Kobo. Takes a pretty good code to discount books like that far enough. On the other hand some books, especially indie stuff, has pretty similar prices in both stores.

I know I already said this to someone, but it doesn't look like it was in this thread: the last books I looked at were literally twice the price at Kobo vs. Amazon--and for at least one of them, twice vs. B&N, as well! Even with the coupons it's been a while since I bought anything. If they kill off the coupon program, that would effectively end them as an option for me--unless they're planning a pretty radical change to their approach to pricing. Like for instance, making it even vaguely competitive.

Not like I need to buy books anyway. I'll never get through my to-read pile. Not even to speak of my local library's options.

For the books I buy, I find Kobo is the same price fairly often. When the price hasn't dropped at Kobo, I can usually get it from Google for the same as Amazon.

Kobo sent me a "we missed you" 90% code. In the past, I've found that books that ended in odd amounts (rather than 99 cents) were couponable. However, I've tried to use it on this book in the US, UK, and Canada, without any luck:

https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/eb...eys#readThisOn

Is there any way to tell whether the book isn't actually couponable, or if my code is faulty? (It's not supposed to expire until October 25).

Thanks!

Since the book is discounted, it should be couponable. Looks like the code is a dud.

Thanks--guess I'll contact Kobo CS.

Yep, the bulk of the 90% codes I've received didn't work, but after perseverance with CS I've been sent replacements.

I got a 90% we missed you code a couple days ago that didn't work so I contacted CS. You have to be really persistent. First they sent me an email explaining in great detail how to check if a book is couponable and how to apply the coupon. So I replied and told them I knew all that but the coupon doesn't work. I was kind of surprised that they emailed back and asked me to let them know which book I wanted and they would check that it was couponable and that my coupon really doesn't work and then credit me 90% of the price.

It's kind of foolish on their part because now I can use even a small coupon on the book and get it for free instead of 90% off.

I think I keep shopping Kobo because I just find all their antics so entertaining. You just never know what they'll do next!

Do a search for the book and then scroll down the page until you see an option in the left column to filter for just books eligible for promo codes.
