Need help choosing a digital library organizer
I have several requirements:
Must be able to sync with google drive Must work on Android Must work on Windows 8/10 Must allow for tags or other metadata. Google Drive is essential because they "rent" 100 GB for $20 a year, and that's all I need. can anyone recommend something. |

Your insistence on Google Drive kills the use of Calibre.
a new 1 TERABYTE drive can be had for $59. Are you being penny wise, pound foolish? Calibre runs fine on W10 Calibre Companion (the desired Android side) plays well with that. (It now supports some OTHER CLOUD storage as well) |

Forget the need for Google Drive and Calibre with Calibre Companion is the best choice there is.

I suppose you could use Calibre and then "Save To Disk" into GD. This would mean you'd have two copies of your library in Windows (local Calibre library + Save to Disk GD backup) but if the goal is having your books available from a cloud this might work (you'd just browse author folders in GD to get books). |

I'm using Google Drive, Calibre and Calibre Companion by having a one-way sync from my on-computer Calibre library to my Google Drive library. This way I won't be sunk if the Google drive library is corrupted and I can use Calibre Companion C cloud access with the Google drive library.
The possibility of the Google drive library being corrupted increases immensely if it's edited from more then one computer/device hence the one-way sync. |

The reason Google drive is so cheap is because it doesn't work as well as some of the other cloud storage providers.

Why insist on Google Drive unless your library is enormous? There are plenty of free 5G cloud storage around. Put your books on one of those and use google drive for your other stuff.

You could swap paying for fineky(sp) google drive for a more useful Copy.com by Barracuda (15GB Free, full disclosure - that's my referral link which i think earns us both more) and just use calibre and calibre companion as suggested by the others. I've not had any issues with it.

I use Calibre on my Windows 8.1 machines (2 tablets and 1 pc and several virtual machines, sometimes even at the same time), Calibre Companion on my Android tablet and I use OneDrive as my online storage system (which is where my Calibre library is hiding). Works perfectly. I'm only missing something for my Windows Phone...

Ive been storing all my books on Onedrive. I have 30gigs of free space and everthing is accessible on my iphone, ipad, laptop (MBP) and 2 Windows 10 machines.
I have a Google Drive account, a Drop box, an iCoud and 2 One drive accounts. IMHO the Onedrive has the most free storage and seems to work the best and is easy to use. |
