Do Jailbreak lose the warranty? Already have a release date? What if my Kindle is in a language other than English, I have to change?

No one has ever reported loosing their warranty.

When the author decides it is time to make the release.

Question:
Been primarily using my Kobo Aura HD for reading, but a couple months ago was interested in the 2015 PW, then heard it wasn't JB-able.

If I bought a new 2015 PW (is this the PW 2 or 3), the one with 300 dpi, for the sake of putting into Airplane mode until JB is available, would I contend with any potential problems? Would new models ship with anything later then 5.6.5? I'm assuming 5.6.5 is the newest FW? How old is it?

I guess I want to avoid putting 120 dollars down in the oncoming couple days for a new PW and find there's an even newer FW on there or anything...

Just bought in the US some days ago a PW3 (300 ppi) which came with 5.6.5. I had a small update which brought some typographical changes, but the version is still 5.6.5. and I am now in airplane mode, awaiting take off.

Yep, can't wait to get jailbreak. I'm so darn tired of screensaver images. I must have looked at em billion times each by now. New pictures aloy!

5.6.5 is currently the newest firmware. In fact, this jailbreak is specifically going to be released once the next firmware is released.

Newly purchased devices usually ship with whatever the latest firmware was when the device left the factory -- so you have a bit of leeway.

(a 40' container has an internal volume of about 2400 ft^3 ~= a lot of Kindle boxes)

No way to tell at this point, it has already been longer than the last time we reported this type of firmware error.

I'd give it a full month at least, before releasing the jailbreak early.

(Or whatever @Branch Delay decides is "an abnormally long time to fix".)

He did say he hoped to release it by the end of October.

Amazon is apparently "still working on a solution." I'll find out about a fix the exact same time everyone else does.

For the benefit of frustrated would-be jailbreakers

how long would it take before you say "Amazon is taking too long" i.e. the latest date you will release your jailbreak?

Branch Delay - a suggestion. Obviously you can't release this hack to this forum until Amazon have fixed the issue, doing so would be grossly irresponsible.

However, I think you should now tell the world where the exploit is. Then we can all sit back and watch AMAZON race the EVIL HACKERS. Once the world knows (via Fox News et al), I will go to Bet.com and place a 5 Euro bet on Amazon winning this race and patching the hole well before any Evil hacker gets home from work tonight ... evil work tonight. Really you should have done this Day 1 to make it a fair race
