Highly Rated Healthy Asian Cookbook--Now $1.99, an 85% Markdown from Digital List!
Asian food is generally healthy anyway. But, whatever.
I suppose that we shouldn't think about how steamy our kitchens will get cooking this stuff. ha Beautiful photos. Even if you don't want to purchase the ebook, you might want to get two free recipes found on the book's Amazon Kindle webpage. One is for Thai Larb Chicken Lettuce Cups, the other is for Sake-Steamed Mussels. PLEASE READ: The (sole) 1-star rating for this ebook was from a reviewer who noted that it was really hard to browse recipes [in this ebook?] on the Kindle. There is not a note on the ebook's webpage about the ebook being optimized for larger screens, as there is for the ebook cookbook that I'm posting next, but you might want to be aware of the possibility that this is the case. FYI--both of these cookbooks are from imprints of Crown Publishing. Steamy Kitchen's Healthy Asian Favorites: 100 Recipes That Are Fast, Fresh, and Simple Enough for Tonight's Supper. By Jaden Hair. Rated 4.4 stars, from 33 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $24.00; digital list price $12.99; Kindle price now $1.99. Ten Speed Press, publisher. 240 pages. http://www.amazon.com/Steamy-Kitchen...ustomerReviews. Book Description Steamy Kitchen creator Jaden Hair, top Asian cooking blogger, gives a healthy and truly inspired overhaul to more than 120 classic Asian recipes, making them accessible and easy for home cooks. As the creator of the beloved blog Steamy Kitchen, Jaden Hair knows how to make Asian food accessible—and exciting—to home cooks. Now, with humor and a can-do attitude, Jaden presents this collection of her quick and flavorful recipes for healthy Asian dishes, most of which are naturally gluten-free and light on meat. With her infectious passion for cooking, Jaden teaches you how to shop for the best Asian ingredients, stock your pantry to streamline weeknight meals, and master delicious Asian cooking at home. Featuring good-enough-to-eat photography shot by Jaden herself, this book speaks to a new wave of healthy eaters without sacrificing flavor, ease, and fun. Jaden makes Asian foods seem approachable, not intimidating, and also offers new material for experienced Asian cooks looking to expand their repertoires. Doing away with gloppy sauces, oily stir-fries, and high calorie counts, these vibrant and unquestionably unique dishes are inspired makeovers of authentic dishes from China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. Recipes such as Chicken-Mango Lettuce Cups, Seafood Curry Noodle Soup, Vietnamese Summer Rolls with Grilled Tofu, Korean Tacos My Way, and a Thai-inspired Peach and Basil Smoothie are perfectly suited for everything from casual dinners to impromptu parties and gatherings. Jaden’s conversational style will make you feel as if you have a knowledgeable friend in the kitchen, guiding you through the process. With Jaden on your side, you can learn to cook fast, fresh, tasty Asian dishes that family and friends—from seasoned foodies to picky kids—will enjoy and request time and time again! Another Highly-Rated Cookbook Marked Down 85% from Digital List, to $1.99!
Important note: this ebook is "Optimized for larger screens. This title has complex layouts and has been optimized for reading on devices with larger screens."
There are a couple of free recipes on the Amazon Kindle webpage for this ebook. Thankfully, you can download these. One is for Jeff's Cheesy Vacation Potatoes and the other one is for Pumpkin Pecan French Toast. Yum. I think that I'll go have one for the main course, and the other for dessert. ha Sunny's Kitchen: Easy Food for Real Life. By Sunny Anderson. Rated 4.2 stars, from 135 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $22.50; digital list price $12.99; Kindle price now $1.99. Clarkson Potter, publisher. 304 pages. http://www.amazon.com/Sunnys-Kitchen...+for+Real+Life. Book Description From the host of the Food Network’s Cooking for Real and Home Made in America, and frequent guest on Rachael Ray and Today, here is Sunny Anderson's debut cookbook, featuring American classics, made her way. You might, but I don't. I don't eat mystery meat. Well, in the case of sausage, there's not much mystery--they sweep the floor to make it. I like the taste of it, but I can't stand to eat it because of knowing that.
Enjoy your breakfast. ha UPDATE: Nevermind. I see that you make the sausage yourself, and you use good-quality beef, that you obtain yourself, to make it. That would be nice. What you are talking about is the recipe that shows in the preview to the book, in case anyone is wondering. So, three free recipes if you count that recipe. There is(are) no bonus recipe(s) in the first book, because the author talks about herself and her family and stuff through the whole preview. ha Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 10-12-2015 at 10:32 AM. |

I had a review copy (limited time version) and thought it was pretty good. Some recipes have two versions, one for those with access to asian markets and another for those with "regular grocery stores".... |

Here in this backwater where I live, there aren't any Asian markets, that I know of. Many people have access to some Asian markets nowadays, though, due to the burgeoning number of businesses doing business online. One such business that I ran across recently that looks pretty good is HMart. They even offer free delivery within Manhattan, New York. |

We have an Asian market but last time we were in there, it smelled like rotten fish.

Reminds me of a few years ago when I was touring, with a realtor, a house that was for sale. From the time that I went in there, there was this horrible smell. There was no electricity in the house and it was completely empty except for one thing--a freezer in the garage. As we got closer and closer to the garage, the strength of the smell increased. There had to have been something in the freezer that had rotted. If the smell was that bad with the freezer hermetically sealed (by the magnetic seals around the door(s)), I can't imagine what it would have been like with the door(s) open! I suspect that the previous owners/tenants knew about the problem and just decided to leave it for someone else to deal with. Too bad, too, because I liked the house itself. But I didn't even make an offer on it. I'm sure that the smell went away eventually--after the freezer was removed--but I just couldn't disassociate the house from that awful smell! |

Reminds me of how awful the Fulton Fish Market used to smell at the end of the workday, when it was located in lower Manhattan.
