I started with a sony 550, 600,650,prs-T1, prs-T2, a normal glo, a aura HD,all had the possibility to enlarge the memory with an extra card, never used it. I Like the Glo HD because it has the most clear screen of all of them..I think thats is the point, you use it for..reading.. ! With an average of 400 KB for a normal book, lets make it 500 KB that is about 2000 books for 1 GB, over 7000 books in the 4 GB storage... Wow.. serious.. it would be "horrible" that i could not read book 7001 without deleting one of them...(and keep that one or the rest as backup on my computer) the comfort of the screen, resolution and clearity would be number 1 for me. I changed 2 Aura-HD's for 2 Glo HD and done that with pleasure for the higher resolution and no-where in my brain was the thought..oh now I can't use that extra memory card, that I never used, any longer... What is more important, enjoy reading as clear as possible in luxury, or the possibility to store book 7010 on it... |

So you advice to take a model that has a lower resolution, less clear screen etc. only because of the extra storage ?? answer = DEFINITELY YES, too much is made of screen resolution in my opinion. btw, it's about 3.2 GB of available storage not 4 GB, the storage of the sd card slot on my aura 6" is 32 GB, not much difference then. regarding your second point, it must be nice having EPUBS that are only 500 KB in size, i have The Complete Works of Jules Verne on EPUB By Delphi Classics which is 95.4 MB to be precise, and that's just one EPUB file. best wishes koboy ![]() Last edited by koboy; 10-12-2015 at 03:18 PM. |

I don't have an issue with any reflection of the Glo HD bezel either.

I would not call this a single book; rather it's as many titles as are included in the single ePub file.

I have major issues with the reflection on the Glo HD shiny bezel. If you're reading outdoors in the bright sun, tilting the position just moves the reflection around. In fact when I first got it and was testing it I think I recorded a video, it actually looks like running lights up and down the bezel, and depending on the angle of the sun, those shiny glare spots can be pretty large.
I just don't understand why anyone would put a high gloss reflective piece, no matter how small, on an ereader. Then I remember holding one of the older Nook readers that was entirely high gloss white. If you always read indoors it's not much of an issue and you won't be bothered by it. If you read a lot outdoors in the summer it's a huge issue for me. |

( https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...postcount=1514 ) Starting with "And (or but) it is really simple to make the storage bigger by making the books smaller.." But ofcourse you are just that only one who reads the complete works of.. and call it one book.. .. try that one complete work of Agatha Christie.. it seems a hell of a book.. |

Must say its very confusing, been reading the last 20 pages and im still not decided whether to get the device or go for the previous model due to reflection, having to brake the device and possibly jeopardize it for the sake of upgrading memory etc.. all i did in post 1515, was to let fantasycamp know that if they wasn't happy on buying a Glo HD for whatever reason, that they could choose from other models that do have more storage options. a slice of very good advice for those like myself that are wise enough to accept it, is always remember your opinion ultimately only matter's TO YOU. best wishes koboy ![]() Last edited by koboy; 10-12-2015 at 09:16 PM. |

I live in the UK. The fact that I have no issue with any glare from the Glo HD bezel is probably because it's October and we don't get much sun anymore and I've only just bought it. Saying that it is only a small strip and I've used it in the conservatory in bright conditions.

It has nothing to do with your opinion about the Glo HD, but it seems to me rather unfair to pass all the better specs and only judge the Glo HD on only one point: it's storage. In my example about the ebooks I calculate the 3 GB, not the 4, but in a "review" or advice to someone you must consider: there are many different ways to enhance the internal memory and not only by modify the device itself: Shrink the books in my example or you can access any storage with the browser to use that storage, you can use dropbox,Google Drive,The internal server of Calibre or any other website space. It is better to help him by telling how he can get more storage on it if thats the only problem with it then to say: oh buy another brand then...that isn't much of a help. It is only the small strip, the old Sony's had the whole screen that worked like a mirror.. here in the Netherlands we have the same weather conditions like you so that one week a year we can sit outside in the sun, I can handle ![]() In the 4 weeks that I was on Greece with 35 degrees celcius it was better to use an umbrella, hence: no reflection at all ![]() |

Well here's my 2 cents on this reader after 47 books and 381 hours later of reading time.
Battery life, awesome. I read about 2-4 hours a day depending on how into the book I am. I full charge once or twice a month. Screen resolution is really nice, letters are nice and crisp. Shiny bezel, really do not notice it in any light condition, certainly not enough at any point for it to distract from my reading. Light seems a little brown at about 50% and tends to be less noticeable the brighter the setting. Doesn't bother me as hell it's a built in light and works for what I need. LOVE that I can adjust brightness by sliding my finger up or down the left side of the screen right beside the bezel. IF you REALLY need more storage the back of the Kobo pops off pretty easy and you can replace the internal card with a higher capacity card (following instructions of course on how to clone your factory card to the new one). While I have indeed popped off the back I haven't yet needed a larger card so haven't "yet" replaced it. |

Hi everybody !
So, I've thoroughly investigated this device and it seems pretty convincing. It would be my first E-book reader, so I'm not sure my questions are related specifically to this device. Sorry if they aren't. My last doubts are about the software the device is running. Can it easily read pdf, epub, cbz, cbc from any sources? I'm talking about things like the course notes my teacher gave in pdf, this book.epub this author freely gave (french book : https://mega.nz/#!20swBAoL!a5XnmclQY...-Lb7RfgppyDQhU) or a cbz/cbc file I did myself. As I understood, pdf can be a pain to convert to epub, can this device pleasantly display them? Is it easy to navigate? Can we follow hypertext links? Is it pleasant to navigate on the internet? I mean, would you use it to go on this very forum? Last question but not the least, as this device went out about 6 months ago, can I conclude the next version will be out soon ? Would it be a good a idea to wait to buy the next version or get the current way cheaper by second hand (as some will sell it back to get the new version I guess)? Thanks P.S.: I tried to convince my father to buy it so I could test it but my plan failed :-s. |

You might want to first see what your school is providing, in terms of student access. For instance can OPDS be used, to access the school server? Many find the addon KOReader to be a better choice for PDFs. Luck; Ken |
