The i86 seems to be a very nice device? How is the contrast on this device compared to the InkPad? The images in Nate's review aren't really conclusive as the contrast on the InkPad there looks much better than it ever did in reality to me. |

And with that requierments its the ideal device for me. I have a Inkpad too, but i'll sell it. Mostly because its not fitting my requierments from above. I would say that the contrast of Inkpad sligthly worse. As far as i know this is because the Inkpad has a additional layer for the capacitive touch. The i86 uses infrared. Here is a comparsion video of both: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65Lw...ature=youtu.be They both differ in their hardware, maybe the hardware of the Inkpad (aside from the contrast) makes a better overall impression. It has a slider bar for regulating the light, which is a feature i'm missing at other devices. The Inkpad gives me a more iPhone-ish impression. The i86 is more "fits its needs". But for me is the biggest difference the software. I want to have the tablet aspect, the open android and its flexibilty. Greetings

Hello guys, I'm thinking of buying an eReader that balances price and screen size. I basically need a reader to read PDFs and DJVUs. I've been coming back to Onyx Boox i86 HDML plus because of its 8'' screen size and manageable price. The problem is I haven't been able to see a youtube video showing how this reader handles technical documents. So, I was wondering whether someone here is kind enough to record a short video showing how this reader handles PDFs and DJVUs. Additionally, is there an option on the default PDF reader to automatically trim margins? Thanks.

Man, would you mind recording a short video (with your smartphone) about how the reader handles a technical PDF whilst also showing how the frontlight works. Please, I've been saving for a year and would like to but this but I want to be sure before I commit myself.

There are already videos with the Onyx i86 reader in this thread. The PDF reflow option works great. It's the same software as on the Onyx M96 only the hardware is faster and the screen size is a little bit smaller. As for djvu files I haven't tried it on the Onyx i86 but you can get almost every available Android app so you could use your favorite Android djvu viewer if you might not be satisfied with the included one. For big djvu files (which are essential pictures) a bigger e-reader (like the Onyx 96) might be an even better option. Or you could wait for the Onyx 13.3 inch reader which will be available in about three months. |

Ebookdroid does not offer reflow but has nice auto crop and crop with picture enhancements options. Also half of the pdf readers on Google play are knock offs of Ebookdroid(which was open source before). Ebookdroid is the original. When you need reflow you need to use Koreader (which can relow image pdfs as well). I believe that the Neo reader apps that come with Onyx devices are modified Koreader, just a guess though. Both Ebookdroid and Koreader works fine on my C67ML, however I am curios to hear about how they perform on i86. Koreader can be picky on Android devices. It is more crashy on some devices than others. Last edited by loviedovie; 10-11-2015 at 06:31 PM.
