Interesting. This happened to me for the first time (at least that I noticed) yesterday, with the screen staying on indefinitely, even though the sleep timer was set for 15 minutes. I'm on a patched, but otherwise clean, install of 3.17.3. I didn't notice it on 3.18, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. I changed the sleep time to 10 minutes and it hasn't happened since, but we'll see....

If for some the light never goes off even after the period you set the sleep timer for, then I consider this a pretty serious bug since it will drain your battery.

Yes but it is hard to reproduce it.. it seems to me that it happens the most when it is a lot at the computer, maybe related to the bug that when on a charger the device does the same, doesn't power off or go to sleep when attached to a charger/computer ..maybe it doesn't "realise" that it is no longer on the charger anymore ??

When it happens to me it hasn't been plugged into the computer for days. It just happens randomly on closing the sleep cover.

This possibly falls under the 'Ghosting improvements' mentioned in the fix list, but they finally seem to have fixed the 'bug' that most annoyed me on the Glo.
When waking from sleep activated by the 'sleep cover'/magnet, there was no full page refresh, which resulted in terrible ghosting, especially when it was set to show the book cover during sleep. This was never an issue when using the power switch to sleep, only the sleep cover/magnet. In 3.18 it does a full page refresh when I open the cover which gets a big thumbs up from me. ![]() |

Coming from firmware version 3.15, I now updated my Aura HD to this new 3.18 release. It was already with 3.15 that I was missing the feature to give individual ratings (1-5 stars) to each book that I finished reading.
Now, using 3.18, I'm also not able to find this feature. When I go to the list of all my books, tap and hold on one single book, I can select "details" from the popup menu, but there is no possibility for a rating :-( What am I doing wrong? I do not assume that the rating was removed, because it's written here that you can even sort your list of books by rating. Thanks for helping! |

@deb10042: ratings can be given on my 3.18.0 H2O by going to the library screen. Next, long tap on a book in your library, then choose details. In the details screen you will (or rather, should) see the star rating, which you then can change. You can even rate books you did not read. As far as I know rating only works for kepubs, maybe only for directly downloaded kepubs.
PS: since I'm using a localized device the terms for library and details may not be fully correct... Last edited by eenk; 10-08-2015 at 04:08 AM. |

Yes, that's exactly, what I also try to do.
But on my Aura HD, there is no option for a rating, when choosing the details screen of a book from the library. Please see attached foto. In my opinion, the rating option should appear at the position marked with a red frame, shouldn't it? What I did until now: - I uploaded all my ebooks via Calibre software (epub) - I did a factory reset of my Aura HD - Reinstalled the Aura HD by syncing firmware via Kobo account (v3.18) - reinstalled again all the above books There is still no rating ![]() (On my other device, a Kobo Glo, I have installed the same books, also using Calibre. The Glo runs firmware version 3.8.0 and the rating just works fine.) Last edited by deb10042; 10-08-2015 at 07:06 AM. |

Ratings for sideloaded ePubs was removed quite a while back, I think firmware 3.8.0 was the last one that let you rate ePubs.

Hi there all
I have a Kobo Touch eReader, and ever since I updated to firmware 3.18.0 it does not want to sync the device anymore. If I press on sync it says Checking for upgrades and then says Starting Sync but it just stays there and nothing happens. Has anyone else had this same problem and if so, what can be done to fix it? Regards Samuel |

I just installed the 3.18 in my new kobo glo and did some patching and hacking to get the KSM and the usbnet. I was surprised thought to find out that doing "cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq" I get 800000. Is it a bit strange? Kobo glo supposed to go up to 1Ghz. Stressing the device by pdf rendering and still the current frequency file showed 800000. Does anybody have an idea why this is the case for me? Has the update to 3.18 changed the linux kernel? I dont see another reason for this to happen besides kobo glo cheating in the cpu or linux false reporting.
thanks for the help and thoughts on that. Last edited by geokv; 10-08-2015 at 03:23 PM. |

It's 1000000 on my H2O. I don't have a Glo.
