Question for the community: what to display if "Show empties" if unchecked

The CC setting Settings / Grouping Drawer / Show empty values in groups controls whether the <<>> value appears in the grouping drawer. A question from a user and also my ruminations cause me to wonder whether I am interpreting that check box correctly.

Currently, no matter what the value of the check box, tapping on a group in the grouping drawer shows all books regardless of whether or not the book has a value for that group. It seems to me that if the option is unchecked then tapping on the group should show only books that have a value for that group. Example:
And yes, I might not be clear, in which case feel free to let me know. ![]() Bear in mind that changing this would be a rather significant functional change for CC, something that makes me nervous.

I've always had the box checked, but it makes sense to me that if the box is not checked I shouldn't see any books with no values. I normally don't look at all books from the grouping drawer unless I choose no grouping. I always choose one of the groupings if I want to see only a specific grouping.

I feel like we had this conversation once before. My opinion is the same as purple lady's. If the option is unchecked, blank items should not be shown.

I agree with Purple Lady and kaufman, unchecked => Not shown.
