Well, that piece of info in my post above is from a specialist. He seemed to know what he was talking about.
It's already launched, but due to high demand, the device is not available yet to public. That will be available from 26th October, 2015. |

How can a new Voyage be launched with a) no announcement and b) no presence on Amazon's website?

In particular, 'already launched, but due to high demand is not available to the public' makes no sense for something that has never had a product listing. So forgive me if I disregard this 'information'. |

Maybe this has something to do with you being in Canada. I don't see the new Fire tablets listed on amazon.ca yet.

And it's never good, I think (but I've not studied economics, in fact I always was terrible in it) to let rumours like that go around. People will not buy a Voyage 1 if they think it'll be outdated within 2 months. So, if that Voyage 2 doesn't show up, you'll have not sold a lot of Voyage 1 either in that time. (and as the title of this topic already said, it was supposed to be the end of September, and now I read somewhere November...) Take me, for example. There were rumours, but it stayed at rumours. So I decided to go for the reader I knew wouldn't get an update within a month or 2: the Kobo. Why wait for a few months and then probably for another few months, etc, when I can buy another reader that also ticks most of my boxes now? |

One day, both e-ink and 'normal' LCD's will be supplanted by such a screen. As soon as this happens, and a 7-8 inch reader with such a screen appears, illustrations and graphics will become usable in e-books. (They are now, on tablets, but not on e-readers.) Then, the need for paper books will have dwindled to collector's items. Maybe Amazon is already working on this, since they have acquired Liquavista. Transflective LCD has been around for years, I have no idea why no one is using it (Well, Garmin use it for their eTrek Hiking GPS's)

That's one of the things which I despair over, is finding a real replacement for my Fujitsu Stylistic ST-4121 and its transflective LCD --- currently using a Toshiba Encore 2 Write 10, and it's nice enough, aside from the low hover distance.
I'd be sleeping on the couch tonight if someone would announce a tablet which: - had an active stylus (w/ hovering cursor and at least a right-button switch) - reasonable performance specs and storage - reasonable size and weight (no larger than the Fujitsu) - had a transflective LCD - was at a reasonable price Probably I'm going to have to save up and buy a ruggedized tablet. |

I see what you all mean, and I agree too. I guess we'll just have to wait till what comes late October / early November.
I have never been an early adopter of any product, but I have the funds and willingness to get a KV2. Again, let's see what Amazon has in store for us! |

Well I think that if a new Kindle eInk is going to be announced this Autumn then it will likely occur no later than the end of October. Amazon usually announces new eInk Kindles and then starts shipping them a few weeks later. If they announce one by the end of October then they can make the Black Friday/Monday sales events. If they don't announce a bit before Black Friday, then the sales might suffer as people will have already started spending holiday gift money on other items. At the very least it makes sense to announce before Black Friday, even if they don't ship until afterwards. So from a retail perspective it makes more sense to announce it in October. But retail giants often defy logic!
At any rate I'm not excited about a possible new Voyage at all. Likely any Voyage or high end eInk will have that gosh awful light layer that degrades the reading experience for me. A Voyage style of non-lighted eInk might get my attention. In other words, the same specs or better (screen wise anyway) as the Voyage but without the light. I hate that light layer and I seriously doubt it will ever be worth a wooden nickle. |

Amazon not long ago released upgrades, and I don't believe they are particularly interested in innovating in the e-ink market. It's saturated. Not many new e-reader buyers, mainly upgrades.
Anyway, no new Kindle for you: One year! (or maybe the end of Octorber ![]() |
